Hi E-M,
'fraid you'll need to be a bit more specific as to what you want and what you plan to spend and what you plan to do with it...
Tom
PS: this has been covered here in detail if you read some of the threads.

Engineerman:
Like Tom says, just start reading, there's a ton of information in this forum if you dive in and study it.
Good luck.

What Tom said. Decide if you want to win at car shows, race, or just cruise. Some manufacturers are known for authenticity, others for affordability. They all have their strengths and weaknesses. Picking a manufacturer is a research excersize in which one matches closest to what you want to drive.
There is no wrong answer, except maybe SAI. Kidding, kidding, relax guys...

Cobra Uses
I am looking for a car not only to show but also to drive. I am willing to spend what it takes to have a beautiful cobra for an end product. what do you all recommend.
I have been looking at the ERA, MKIII, etc. but I am not sure. ERA Has a nice rear end with an Idependant suspension. Do others have similar designs? what are some of the pros and cons of some of the cobra manufacturers? Any feedback and advise would be grealy appreciated.

E-man,
If money is no object (which is good, welcome to the CC) then buy yourself a cobra manufactured by shelby himself between '62 and '67. After you look into those cars, and your heart starts beating again, you can then make one of the biggest decisions of your life, by deciding whether to build "plastic" or "alloy".

Do what I did. find someone who made a small fortune out of a large fortune and offer him $$$$$ to let him get his power turned on in time for christmas... or this case AC on in time for summer...
Seriously, It comes down to level of involvement in the culture (hobby doesn't sound right) I know guys who have built as nice a car as there is only to decide this is more of an obsession than a past time. Pick a price point. A $20k car will generally be the low (ok, low low) end and $120k the high end (ok.. very high end)
Most fall in the middle.. $40-60k... The nicer the car (or the more you are willing and able to do) the more it will be worth. Regardless of marque there are very well done and very poorly done examples.
If you can wait (sometimes years) you can order a new ERA or Kirkham both of which are at the high end of todays market. Superformance is a good car. There are many other good cars. I will tell you the more you spend the better off you will be in the long run. Your higher initial investment will keep you from constantly upgrading (unless you become obsessed)
