Thanks Silk, for posting a picture of my better side. hahahaha

For those that weren't there, the guy sitting down is Scott Harrison, a CACC member. Poor sucker had fallen asleep during one of the afternoon's marathon drinking sessions in the parking lot of the Cross Country Inn. He woke up to moonlight.

My favorite story was from another CACC member. I won't reveal his name, but it rhymes with Jose. My understanding is he went to use the restroom at the steak house Saturday night, he walks in, and is checking out a poster on the wall as he strolls up to the urinals......as he gets closer to the urinals, he's unzipping and pulling out in preparation for the "whiz"....all the while still walking. Anyway, tool in hand, still checking out the poster, he walks right into the rearend of another fellow already using the urinal!

Wade, I've said it before and I'll say it again--you got a purty butt.

Flyin, Turk and I have simply gotten used to the occasional "wiffs" from the little guy.

Default Almost the Fling

Immediately after unloading ERA409 after the trip back from DVSFIII, I drove it from Hickory to Newton . . . North Carolina, that is. Turning at an insection in downtown Newton, I found myself in a procession of Corvettes that had just left Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet caravaning to Nashville for the Vette's 50th anniversary. I got a lot jaw dropping looks, sort of like a school of seals would look when a shark was sighted in their midst.

Had my first "White Castle" hamburgers! Those little suckers are GOOD! Had dinner at "Frazzoli's", which was Italian "fast food"! Noticed the gasoline prices were about 50 cent cheaper than L.A. Also noticed that the liquor was "diluted" (said so on the bottle!) 20%, or 40 proof! I guess Jack Daniel doesnt make 40 proof!

Oh, yeah! Movies were $3.50 before 6 PM, and only $6 after 6 PM!

Edley,

If you don't buy Jack Daniels in a State Liquor store it's diluted...
It has to be a sanctioned liquor outlet... We actually do have real booze in Ohio... However, I would reccommend staying away from Ohio wine...
As far as the White Castle sliders go... Well, what can I say... You enjoy them all day after eating just one.. Every burp is a bad memory..

Apparently I'm easily amused... I think the best time of the Fling was in the motel parking lots... QSL was nice, the SCCA thing was nice...London is always a nice time...OOOHHHH!!!, Funnel cakes.. but after everything was said and done, it was still the parking lots and the BS that stands out... Always something going on and a beer to be had.. Just a short walk from our room and the AC (that's air-conditioning). I was playing mind games in picking out the top four cars (in my humble opinion) at the Fling... (I told you I was easily amused)
Great putting a face to a name or rather a screen name..
I'm hoping for another Fling next year or possibly the following year. anyway, lots of fond memories and more to look forward to...

Bill,
You didn't drive out on Friday. We left PA around 9:30 am, and it poured for about 350 of the 450 miles out. My poor car was on an open trailer, without any cover. At least now I know that FFR indoor/outdoor carpet is great, and the car is waterproof.

But it was just like the weather was meant to be perfect for us. As soon as we crossed the border into Ohio, the rain stopped and the sun came out. By time we got there, the car was fully blown dry and ready to go, besides being filthy. And you're right, it was a blessing for us Northeasterners. The weather couldn't have been better. It was good to see the sun, and the only burn that we got was my poor wife...oh wait, that burn was from the sidepipes...again.... She'll never learn.

Steve

Hmmm. Well, Joe, those are some mighty nice pics you've got there. They seem to bring back fond memories of a great big, mostly empty, very well-policed parkng lot that could have been set up for a real nice auto-x . . . . . . . . . . but, ahem, unfortunately wasn't. So I suppose having a set of the hi rez versions would be kinda nice - you know, make the family proud and all that. You can send them to me at: ddelux@aol.com. Thanks

Enjoyed the evening meditations with the Gashoes - and look forward to more of the same next year (but perhaps without such close supervision by Ohio's finest . )

LMAO

Not like you didn't have the perfect real time audience--Capital Area Cobra Club and Gasholes. No room for BS on your part, but BS masters to make the story oh so much better as time goes on.

Either one has got to be good!

Yup. Maneuvering room here appears fairly limited. However, I choose to look at things on the bright side. I am, after all, from our nation's capital - home of crafty politicians and the ethically bankrupt spinmeisters who portray even their most abject stupidity in absolutely positive terms. Definitely my kind of people! So, with that in mind, I’d point out that the above pictures actually show me in the midst of my own private investigation of automotive hooliganism. I felt it necessary to bring in the local police to assist me, since the offenders were numerous and some of them quite – how shall I say it – “robust.” I’m deeply offended that some might infer that the circumstances were otherwise!

The absolute funniest moment for me was the Church Lady Incident on I-70. Saturday morning Pat was driving my car while I rode shotgun. Lola was standing up between us. Jamo and Ron were in Jamo's car just ahead of us. I pulled Lola down so that her head was near my, um, belt line. I then began bobbing her head up and down and told Pat to pull up next to Jamo. I reclined in my seat and put on a face we have all worn.

Jamo and Ron were laughing as I continued to bob Lola's head up and down. I then noticed that a mid-80's Olds Cierra was driving by with several ladies inside. A car load of Church Ladies if ever there was one. I kept on as they drew along side and began to pass.

The expressions on their faces were something I will laugh about the rest of my life.

the photo is of Lola before she began her act

Like all professionals, she can be whoever you want her to be

A related funny was that we were directed to park in a handicapped parking space directly in front of a church. In front of the door everyone was using to get the box lunches, use the restroom, etc. It was pretty funny watching people's expressions from afar.

I also saw quite a few people having their photo taken with her. A missed fundraising opportunity was to ask for $5 to let people take their picture with her and get a Gasholes sticker. Maybe next year.

Your performance with Lola isn't nearly as nasty as those White Castle sliders. Ed, I thought you had better taste than that...
