How many Cobras in the USA
I see large gatherings of Cobras all thru-out the states.
How many Cobras are registered in this country?

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?
Not trying to be a smart a$$, but there's no way to know the answer to your question. It's a safe bet to figure it's somewhere in the many thousands...

That would be a difficult question to answer if you were restricting your query to just ORIGINAL cars. No one has a number on that group, either.

I read a quote from Carrol Shelby, from 1994,That between 1962 and 1967 that 1011 cobras left the building. There were approx
160 that were 427's. As you know many were sold as 427's but were actually 428's. Can anyone help with more production #'s.

I can personally vouch for 284 Cobras (as seen at the Fling) and two more that didn't make it... Other than that I'd also be curious as to the total...
Klayfish,
Several years ago there was government funded research in regards to the Tootsie Pop... After millions of dollars were spent their results were inconclusive... The average person had to lick it 332 time to achieve nirvana and Gene Simmons could reach heaven in two licks... The scientists refer to the discrepancy as to variables in tongue size... Money well spent by our government...
Seems to me that this was discussed in a previous thread..
Think the number of Cobras, world wide, was between 40K and 50K..

Clarify the question.
Do you mean replica Cobras?
Do you mean replica Cobras and original Cobras?
Do you mean original vintage Cobras
Do you mean original and continuation series Cobras?
My guess is you probably mean replicas.

Evan:
I'd be interested in a breakdown of all those categories. Obviously, we know (pretty closely) what the numbers were on the originals and the continuations because fairly good records were kept.
However, I would really like to know if anybody has any idea of how many repli-, er, tribute Cobras, are out there. And from there, how many are 427 replicas, how many are 289 replicas, and how many are Daytona Coupes??
I've seen some educated guesses on the total number from people who have compiled estimated production figures from some of the manufacturing companies, and I think it was around 15,000 total replicas from all the different manufacturers over the years.
Does that sound right???

Terrible Ted:
Re: original cars, there are cars that have not been verified as to their existence (that may or not be around) and cars put together from pieces of others that SAAC will not consider legitimate that try to pass as original cars (aka "air cars"). Production and survivability numbers are two separate issues.

According to Evan, there is only one REAL Cobra and he owns it.
I think Bill has the right idea when he says "more than 200, but less than 100,000". However there have been at least 162,374 people that have told me that (insert one of the following; their brother, their neighbour, their father's best friend, etc, etc) had an original in 1965 so there must be a lot more out there than we are aware of.
