Save yourself a couple hundred bucks and go with a pre-1967 VW Bug column. It looks just like the original, and being from a VW it may help to improve gas milage.......... With the price of gas these days I took things a step further and used seat adjuster tracks out of a Honda Civic. I'm shooting for 25MPG highway!

Rob,
We'd have to do some checking in the phone book, but there is a place around here that specializes in nothing but VW Beetles and Microbuses. My column is from an old VW bus if you want to check it out again. I'm actually quite happy with it. It's nice and short, so the wheel isn't stuck into my chest.

No, it ain't "real", but it's real fast....

Some people choose to rattle their windows with stereos and speakers... I choose to rattle windows with my right foot.

The problem is that I want tilt. I like the steering on my lap, so I need tilt to get out. . .

From people who have experience with both, which you you recommend? Flaming River or I Dit It?

I have a flaming river column and it is a well made unit(with tilt)the FR columns are smaller diameter than the Ididit ones if that is important.I think it is a toss up on quality so shop for price. chuck

Thumbs up

I have a Fiero Tilt in my Midstates. I like it a lot and wouldn't trade it for anything else. It's a short column. The signal arm works as well as the cruise switches. Yes, I have cruise and it's wonderful! You can get these at the salvage yard for $50. with all the wiring coming off it.
I also have a IDIDIT tilt column in the GT40. There really is no difference between the Flaming River and the IDIDIT. Just buy the one thats cheaper if that's what you want.
