Default seeking inspiration on stripes

I'm about to get a new Cobra, which is silver. I'm planning to put stripes on, but I'm not sure how. Those in the middle from front to back are nice, but I'm also considering Team Stripes on the fenders or similiar. Let me know what you think, pictures and / or links would be nice.

My vote is keep it simple and go with the strips down the middle. They are traditional and just look the best in my opinion. I have a Titanium Cobra and I went with Black strips so I like that, but I've seen a blue strip on a silver car that looks good and I've seen a lighter colored silver strip on a silver car which is sharp. Just look at as many as you can and when you see the one, you'll know it. Take a look at my gallery.

Stripe Inspiration???

Stripes or now stripes - it is all YOUR preference. Don't let anyone persuade you to do something you don't personally want.

Forget stripes, your car will look better without them, most cars do. But if you really like stripes, than go ahead and do them how you like instead of how everybody else thinks they ought to be done.

Nice pic, James.

Spoony, great car; those black stripes look great on the titanium.

Mr. Fixit, my KCC - which I wrecked yesterday, another driver hit me while changing to my lane, and I ended at a tree with my right door, which cold formed the frame to somewhat like a banana - was in standox monte carlo magic, and it looked great without stripes. But plain silver looks a little bit boring in my opinion. So I collect all the input, and then I'll decide by my own.

That really stinks!

how about "hockey stick" type striping that was popular decades ago?

I saw a photo of CS @ his 80th with a sea of original Cobras - very few had stripes.

Stripes look great. In the BDR thread here there are some photos of a silver with no stripes. It has numbers and a few cling stickers and it looks very sharp. These cars look good with and without stripes. On the same thread there is a photo of a blue with stripes and the fender stripe - and it also looks really good.

The stripes should be tapered with the narrow end at the ends of the car.

My personal choice for stripes (if I went with them) would be a darker shade of the body colour with a pinstripe outside the mains. But that's just me :-)

Then you could also go with stripes with a meatball cutting through the stripes - also looks good.

My take on stripes is that they give the car a 'race' look whereas no stripes give it a 'gentlemans' look. Of course the sound always means 'vette spanker' :-)

ramble finish

Racer tape and static cling vinyl stickers work fine and you can take it off if you don't like it and try different configurations.

Beautiful car, Roscoe! And I like the engine choice too. Over here in Europe, we have just a few bbs; most are sbs, Ford 302, 351W or Chevy 350s, not to mention the smaller engines. So your 351W would be a perfect choice for Europe too.
I kinda like the idea of putting this checkered tape diagonal over the fender, we'll see.

Mr. Fixit, could you tell me more about those "hockey stick" stripes?

The nicest thing about the car is that it is not painted yet. It is just gelcoat. I'm into my third year on the road and no plans to paint it yet. Maybe someday.
