Early on I had two passenger burns, none since I empathized being careful...

I've lost count how many times I have burned my OWN leg. I wear shorts most of the time here, but lately, I've switched to long pants. My son, on the other hand has never burned his leg (yet). I foolishly sold my side pipe covers because they looked "tacky".
Like the scars and burns on my legs look better???

Darrel,
They may be bigger than what you are looking for, but I installed the heat shields from Finish Line. They sell a satin finish and a polished set. Mine are polished. Below is a picture and you can see a few more angles in my gallery.
I was not sure originally that I would like the look, but I as it turns out, I do.
They have saved my skin a couple of times, but I always tell my passengers to watch the pipes, even if they have been in the car several times.

Dont the heat shields just get "less hot" that the s'pipes themselves? I am fortunate in that I am 6'4" and my legs are TOO LONG to get burned by the s'pipes!! I tell ALL my passengers that the pipes are HOT!

If you use stainless, the shields are likely to be less hot. If you ceramic coat them like the headers, they will be more less hot.
I can put my hand on the shields after driving the car for awhile. Top surface is warm, side is cool. The only part that is hot is the small screw head that holds the shield to the pipe. These things dissipate heat very rapidly.

Custom sidepipe heat shields
www.troys3ddesignart.com
go to "custom car" page, see the custom side heat shield that I will custom make to any length with any design you want on them (within reason) and I will beat anyones price, the ones pictured on my site went for $500 with 3D tribal flames on them @ 7"x43" long (customer wanted them the whole length of pipe)

Summit racing sells 36” cheese grater heat shields; does anyone know if these actually fit the side pipes? Everyone else seems to only sell 29” or 30” length shields.

I have the heat shields and you can still burn your leg. You and your passenger just needs to stand up and step out of the car. I've had mine for 19 years and only one person has burned their leg
