Go to my website
www.competitionlife.com
Go into team photo's, who we are, and what we do. If you want better shotsI will send you a few via e-mail. The photo's never come out as good as the color really looks unless you got the Hassleblad. I believe there are photo's on the SPF website events at VIR.

Anyone else have a shade of blue they want to add? Just trying to create a reference for different blues in one easy to use thread.

Default Blue

Indigo Blue (as well as most other blues) are hard to get "right" with a digital camera. Also, the lighting can alter just about any color.

Check out some of the images in my gallery for an Indigo Blue SPF shot late in the afternoon. These have been "color corrected" in Photoshop, but even this does not insure good reproduction of color.

About the only way to really pick a color is see them live, all lined up, and compare. For some, this only makes color selection more difficult. They like 'em all.

I agee with StephenC the only way is to line them up. What I did was to get some ideas from color chip books(remember these are not exact), make 5 or 6 choices, then get your painter a case of beer and beg him to mix up 4 oz of each color and spray out some test panels. This way you really know what you're getting.

Default The blues over choosing a blue

I hate to bring back an old thread but figured if i cant ask the CC members who can i ask Blues come in more shades than i would have imagined even when its darker blues.I have noticed that one car that stands out to me is Gumballs old car called a ford taurus royal pearl blue, but wondered if any colors where added to either under coat or base to acheive that shade. If any of you guys have some interesting blues you could post that would be great.

Thanks Sal

Just resurrecting on oldie, but a goodie for those trying to decide upon blues. Mr. Mustang's Contemporary was a nice shade of blue.

Bill, any chance of posting picks of your old car on this thread?

Thanks,

Lew

Can anyone positively ID this car's paint color? It looks to be a SPF from Spring Fling 2004. So, is it Guardsman or some other color? Is it Dupont or PPG paint?

If someone can provide me with the owner's contact info or, if these are standard SPF colors, PLEASE POST all 3 PAINT CODES for the blue, white and yellow.

THANKS!!!
Drew

Lew,
My Kirkham is Viper blue and I love the color. Computerworks posted a photo in this thread. Thanks Ron, even if you think the color is a "wee bit brash". It does look different depending upon light conditions. I have photos posted in my gallery and you can find many more of the build on the unofficial Kirkham website which is a link from the main webpage. Here are 2 links to parent directories.
