Default Show me your blues

I am trying to decide which color blue to paint my car (KMP 427). SPF Indigo blue is nice and Viper blue is also very popular. Does anyone have any other recommendations, with photos, of other blues?

Thanks,

Default Blue, you say?...

Lew...
..as a sanctioned, card-carrying "keeper-of-the-flame", and an APS (anal-purist-sicko) of the fourth-degree , I can recommend the ONLY choices of blue that you should be considering, in no particular order of preference....

Darker shade of Blue:
Ford Royal Blue Pearl
Patriot Blue
Indigo Blue
Jag Pacific Blue

Lighter shade of Blue:
Guardsman
Guardsman
Guardsman
Ford Sapphire Blue.

I can post samples if you would like to see any of them.

Viper is a great and popular blue, but if you are attempting a correct look, it is just a wee bit too 'brash'

The SPF Indigo is a v-e-r-y true blue and a good choice.

Seriously, I currently have a BNL that will see paint down the road. I have been searching for the 'right' darker blue for many months and have narrowed the list as above....
...although, Guardsman still flashes by in my head now and then.

2 blues I have used and love, Midnight Blue Metallic (DARK blue from late 70's Lincolns) and True Blue Metallic ('03 Explorer). The True Blue is a very nice fine metaalic blue basecoat/clearcoat.

Well, not anybody would like it, because its a very modern color, and due to beeing limited, it may be sold out, and if still available, it costs 4 times the price of a normal color, but take a look at standox silverstone blue, a chamelon color that varies from blue to silver.

Ron:

It would be great if you post the darker blues. Another that I was considering is BMW Mauritius Blue.

Thanks,

Lew

My car (click the camera link for the gallery) is painted the new VW Passat colour - "Inky Blue". It took some serious thought about whether I wanted to admit that my car took a leaf from VW's book, but I did it anyway and I love the way it looks.

Before finally deciding to paint my car green (it's not not I don't like blue, just wanted something a little different), I looked at a lot of blues. IMHO, the nicest I found were Ford's True Blue Metallic (very nice dark blue with subtle metallic flakes), which can be found on 2003 trucks, explorers and astro vans, the dark blue on the new Nissan Murano (nice and dark with not a lot of metallic) and Chrysler's Patriot Blue (also a nice dark blue metallic, but not as dark as Ford's True Blue Metallic).

This is a tough decision. Great blues, all of them. I don't know how to paste a picture from another web site, but the blue CSX 4000 with white stripes and a yellow team stripe on the top of the first page of Shelby American's web site is awesome. ("http://www.shelbyamerican.com") Does anyone know what color it is?

As always, thanks,

Lew,

Viper blue is stunning on one of our cars. I highly recommend it. Guardsman blue looks like...

I would never paint one of my (personal) cars that color.

McCluskey blue is very similar to Viper Blue.

Ok, OK, Ron...put that thing down and PLEASE don't shoot!

David
