Read somewhere that Autoweek has the hightest family income/per subscriber of the major auto magazines.
I have about a dozen subscriptions to assorted car rags, but if i were to want to maximize my cost/benefit ratio of advertising an expensive Replica, it would be a small add in Autoweek.
Other than the Dupont Registry magazine, i think Autoweek is the most likely place someone who has the ability to spend a lot of money for a very special, uncommon "high end" car, will look.
When i finally approached the ability to perhaps actually (after 20+ years of yearning) get an expensive sports car, i put a lot of thought into what i really wanted. I thought about Vipers, Esprits, NSX's, used Ferrari's, Porsches, and so forth. And the best place to compare them and their availability was in the small adds in Autoweek. The best place to put an add for a $90K sports car is with other similiarly priced sports cars.
all the best.

Snakeeyes, I will let you in on it!
Snakeeyes,
I am surprised you did not get the mailing to become a charter member of "Good Luck" since the demographics were pretty selective and tightly focused.
Tell you what, since I consider you a friend, just send me a check for $144 for the yearly subscription, and I can guarantee you with 100% accuracy that I will have Good Luck!
Please make it out to;
John "Good Luck" Russell
Thanks for your interest, and tell all your friends!

Reader's Digest
National Geographic
Autoweek
Stamping Journal
Tube and Pipe Journal
Scientific American (too liberal, but I like the science)
Modern Arcitecture
Automobile (not the one you are thinking about, but a trade journal)

And when I am done with all those,
Mark's Standard Handbook
Oh man, do I really read that much?

The postings have listed a good number of alternatives. Believe the next step is to decide upon an approach to mix the traditional such as AutoWeek, Car & Driver, Road & Track etc with other events, places, publications,media such as:
* Race Tracks: Watkins Glenn, Road Atlanta ( forgot the new name ) etc
* SCCA
* Articles in Business Week, Fortune,
WSJ, NY Sunday Times, Time, Parade......national exposure via press releases
* Speed Channel/Vision
* ESPN
* Pace Car at a NASCAR road course event, next week at Watkins Glenn
* Google, AOL, Yahoo
* Exhibits at the premier auto shows, Pebble Beach, Amelia Island
etc...............

Don,
Road Atlanta is still Road Atlanta. We have a new FIA approved track in Birmingham AL named the Barber Motorsports Park. World class facility. Owner has a world class collection of Lotus cars and motorcycles, all from his milk money (he owned a dairy).

in car mags- AW, but that's not where I'd advertize...
I'd advertize in IT journals, law journals, medical journals, where all the Walter Mitty types (like me, Evan, Jamo, and just about every body else on this site except Speed220) go on a frequent basis, but want to think that they are really cool (in their own mind).

Hmmmm,,,,if you choose to advertise in Playboy, would the the ad be mostly a picture, with a few words? All them "words" get in the way of the really good articles.

Although it might offend some peoples' sensibilities, I think Playboy is a good choice. Magazines like Kitcar, and to a lesser extent Autoweek, will draw those that are enthusiasts and who for the most part have already heard of KMP. I would think that you would want to target not only those people that have not heard of KMP but also those that think of the term "kit car" as a negative term. A term that conjurs up visions of Bradly GTs, Lazer 917s and rebodied Fieros. Playbor, Forbes, Cigar Afficiando, DuPont Registry, Robb Report, cater to guys who want and do spend big $$ on big toys. Letting them know that not only are Cobras being made today, but they are being made so much better today than they were 30 years ago. Also to let people know that you do not need to no how to build a car to own one. Pay and play.
Furthermore, a color glossy ad in a fancy magazine really gives the impression that a company is a quality operation that takes itself seriously and has the resources to deliver a first class product. Some of these magazines even do off-topic articles and might do a review of the car, focusing more on the visceral impact rather than the technical stats as a regular car magazine would.
There is a big market out there that does not know about your product. I think that it goes (or at least could go) beyond the typical car magazine readership.

David, David, David.
As many folks here will tell you, I can not read.
However, I do look at the pictures in Grassroots Motorsports, Road and Track and Kit Car.
Advertise? I thought you guys where up to your eye balls! What ever you have to do to stay in business until I can afford to get one of your cars, I am all for it!
