ReBody kit for mustang?
Hello, has anyone heard of a rebody kit of a Cobra to fit onto a mustang frame? Similar to the Cobrette, but a mustang instead of a vette.
Thanks,
ArasB

I'm not sure but you must be referring to donor Cobras that use the Mustang. Mustangs are uni-body ,unlike the Corvette, and I can't see any way that it would be a task that could be done by the average guy. I have seen the neat Mustang rebody of a a Miata though.

WDZ, I've seen the kits that use Mustangs as donors, but I'm looking for a body to drop onto an existing frame and drivetrain. The cost of a donor kit is more than I can muster up. $12,000 for donor based vs. $3,000 for a rebody.
The vettes are nice but it seems that there are a lot more 1965-1975 mustangs available in decent shape than there are corvettes. I was not aware of the mustangs being unibody, thanks.

Bill, I wanted to start a new thread since I didn't word the last one correctly as a rebody question not a donor question. I looked at the corvette kit, and it might be an option for me, but I want to see what else might be out there.
Thanks,

There are plenty of body kits for the late model Mustangs, but nothing that will make it look like a Cobra. The shape of the unibody chassis does not lend itself to anything along these lines..............Now, there is a company that does so for the Miata..................

Yeah, but ...Miata? I just watched a video from Superformance and it's making me weigh more on a full donor kit like FFR or SPF. My only difficulty is the cost. Aren't there any less expensive kits?
Thanks Bill,
Aras

FFR is going to be the least expensive "donor kit" worth it's weight. SPF does not over a donor style kit, but instead sells you a full roller minus engine and transmission..................These can be sourced new, or used, but most go the new route..................As for the Miata kit, I failed to explain to you it makes the Miata look like a 64.5-66 Mustang convertible in 3/4 scale................Not a Cobra..............

You want the bargain of a lifetime, I caught wind of the reserve just before the high bidder (most likely playing games) backed out.......Think the reserve is 16K.....

If I had the spare funds, it would be mine at that price....................

Wow, I'll be ready in about 6 months, but that's a steal! I'll have to check with 'management' to see if some funds can come available.

I'm almost certain there is a Cobra body kit for the 1999+ Mustangs.
(Yes, as ugly as you can imagine it) I'm sure a google search will turn it up. I believe the prototype car they had in the advertisements was grey.
Oh god it was ugly. I certainly hope they're out of business. I think it was front-end only.

here is what your talkin a/b:
"For Sale: Mustang 5.0 body kit. Do you possess a Mustang 5.0 donor car for a Cobra, but cannot afford the (Cobra) kit. I have a 'Daytona Mustangs' body kit that I never installed that widens your Mustang 6" on each side, and gives your car the look of a Ferrari. If you're looking for something entirely new & exciting, just look at this body-conversion kit. There was a total of only 20 produced, and this one is the last unmounted body. You don't have to purchase glass, mirrors or interior. All you need is a 1987-'93 Mustang 5.0 for a donor vehicle, T-bird headlights, and the wheels of your choice. If you have a 5.0 Mustang and don't care to rip it apart to make a Cobra roadster, this kit is tailor-made for you! It's yours for $1,999 or best reasonable offer."
You can see a Pic on cobracountry.com - Its uuuuuggggllllyyyy
