I picked up the latest copy of Unique Cars (An Aussies exotic car trater mag). I was browsing through the pages and there was an article about the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este in lake Como, Italy. There on the page was a drop dead gorgeos car, a silver Maserati A6GCS from 1953. Very Cobra'esque in it's styling but a cool looking low roofed coupe.
I think it's that roofline that does it for me. It's kind of like some sort of old racing plane/fighter plane. you know the old GB2s and that kind of thing. All body with tiny cockpit and neat little windows, the driver/pilot is in there somewhere.
Cheers

nice
oh my, that really is a beautiful car and with such resolution.
Ron,
BTW: a quick question... how were you able to attach multiple and such high resolution photos? Does thee have no limits... I didn't know you could attach multiples like that without exceeding 40K What file format are you using, or am I missing something?

I wondered about that too. Somebody else in the ACC answered me but i was lost from a not (my fault) easy to understand explination. But as you can see I'm in senior status now.
That car is incredible.... Daytona coup without the bob tail???? I wonder what its worth and how many made?

Duane... in the above post, I didn't attach the photos... I "linked" to them using the 'Image' tag (IMG). They are posted on another site... and I used the address of the pictures to show them in my post.
If you point to one of the images in the above post and right-click...select properties and it will show the real URL (address) of the picture.
Ahemmmm,,,,at the risk of inserting controversy it makes me wonder how the styling might have been influenced by an early AC,,,,oh wait, or was that an even ealier Ferrari? Uh,,,,who's on first?
WOW,,,,,is that a magnificant car or what!!!! Sure looks like an original and awesome design to this illiterate history buff!
So THATS where the side pipes for the Coupe came from! I love it!

Hi Ron,
okay, I see. That's a good way to do it while taking advantage of storage on someone elses boxes... I did check the properties field to see what you were talking about. Thanks for letting me know.

That car is going up for auction and is expected to fetch between 550,000 and 700,000 British pounds. That's $880,000 to $1,120,000 US dollars at the current exhange rate.
That works out to about to 1.4 to 1.8 million Aussie Pesos.
I thought it was neat how there were so many styling cues that appeared on the Shelby cars. I guess it was a case of everyone was soing similar things at the time. If you look at the modern cars we drive they all have similar syling. it's always been that way I guess. A 68 camaro doesn't look that much different to a 68 mustang. The cars that try for realy different styling usually bomb in the market place so it doesn't pay for the manufacturers to break out of the mold. Any one remember the Edsel? I think they area a cool car now but the public hated them when they were released.
So who's going to build the first Maserati replica?
Cheers

By the way,,,,,,,,,what year was the AC introduced? I thought it was before 1953?
When ever it was, the Maserrati shown here is truly a "timeless" work of art. Few cars have achieved that in their design over the years. I'm amazed this is the first time I've seen this car!!!!!
"Timeless" styling! Two that come to mind:
62-63 Jaguar E-Type and Studebaker Avanti
