On a SPF car what do you like better coated or chrome. What are the advantages or disadvantages of both.

Well, I will be watching this thread closely as I need to make the same decision soon.

Seems like the question would be applicable to any Cobra, not just SPF.

I got chrome on mine, I sure do love the look but I really HATE the heat! The chrome pipes are WAY hotter than the ceramic coated. I think chrome looks better too, but what a hassle to keep it "polished" and clean.

I've ordered a new set, I'm going to PAINT THEM this time! That way I can touch 'em up, or cut them apart to replace the baffles in needed, reweld, paint and they will be just like new!

I am purchasing silver ceramic coating for my Titanium/Black SPF with silver ceramic-coated heat shields. I think that they look really good and you get the added benefit of the ceramic coating and no snake bites (plus it allows me to pass state inspection).

For a fantastic look, the polished stainless steel sidepipes can't be beat, IMHO.

Jet Hot Coating (ceramic coated) is much more durable and runs cooler than chrome. Doesn't have quite the shine, but won't tun blue, yellow, etc. It never changes color and lasts a lifetime.

Lasts for "years" anyway, at least a very long time.

What do you do to touch up scatches or "burned tennis shoe" marks? What do you do when the baffles "burn out" (as has happened to my chrome pipes)?

If I cut open my chrome side pipes to replace the baffles I will have to "re-chrome", or would that be "re-ceramic"? The car was built in 1994, original pipes, so that is a long time I guess.

No easy solutions here!

Taters,
I have each and am guilty of waving the flag for Jet-Hot but truely think the coated are much easier to maintain, keep looking clean and do shed heat quicker than chrome. Chrome will get a little bluing and small scratches that are hard to polish out. Taters check your email about pick up date. Jeff C
