Ready To buy... Doing my homework
My name is Dave, I've searched bulletin board for info on manufacturers.... I have travel plans to visit house of cobras in anahiem and pegasus in kansas city, within a month or so. All opinions and information are welcome , (I am aware of CA reg. laws)
I'm looking for a clean, middle on the road turnkey vehicle.Looking to have fun with, not so intersted in showing.Probably small block, would like FE (any thoughts)

An FE small block? Hmmmmm, theres a debate taking shape!
Wheres my hat to toss in the ring....
Oh here it is!
Classic Roadster, built by DV himself! 5.0 with 5 speed, blue with white stripe. 1400 miles, just broke in! Pics in my gallery (the BLUE car with white interior), the car is in London, Ohio (Home of the "Spring Fling") at DV's shop. $32K (trades? Offer?).

I'm not sure this car will meet the reg. requirements put forward by the state of CA. Also thinking 351w....Why not FE?

Ha ha,,,351W is good, many would say "better" than an FE for various reasons, others would raise a mighty protest. The biggest issue with an FE is cost (bring a BIG check)!
No difference registering a Classic Roadster in Calif. than any other "Cobra" with a CLEAN title, and a PROPER Vin. Where you get in trouble is with those "Cobras" that have an improper\questionable title and or vin number history. Now THAT can spell trouble in ANY state!
That issue applies across the board to ALL of them, Shelby CSX4000 and up, SPF, ERA or whatever! The paper trail from the MSO to the title needs to be "clean"! That is the FIRST item to check (and double check).
Unless, like what happened recently with some SPF owners in Calif. you want the police to show up in force at your house with a search warrant seeking information on your title!

let me start off today with an apoligy. with all the info I've been gathering my brain is on overload. sometimes I don't even know what typing. What I meant to say was EFI for a small block... Not FE.. Sorry and thank you for those who replied. I'm finding my biggest hurdle to overcome seems to be with reg. a car in CA.

Real Ford: You might want to consider one of the Cobra's that Shelby is building through CAV in South Africa. I spoke with a rep at the Monterey Historics over the weekend, and they are offering an introductory price of about $40k, plus engine and trans. XK's Unlimited does a nice build. They are in San Luis Obispo (I went to Cal Poly). The rep quoted a 90 day leadtime for the car to hit the states once ordered. One of these with a Shelby 427 FE and a top loader would make a truly *****in' car. I can provide the rep contact info if you want it.
Kirkham makes a fine aluminum car. Superformance makes a nice, tight, fiberglass car.
In registering your car, check with your local Shelby enthusiasts club. I'm sure you can find someone that could help you through the registration process.
