Monterey RM Auction Results
Didn't get to attend, but here are some of the highlights of the Friday/Saturday auction results at Monterey:
860 Ferrari Monza: $2,000,000+
289 Cobra: $192,000
427 Cobra: $332,000
Boss Mustang: $343,000 (I think this was the George Follmer Trans Am car).
GT-40 Mk III: $250,000
Go to www.rmauctions.com and hit the link, auction results. Monterey is the top one in that heading.

According to the following, the first 2005 Ford GT sold at one of the auctions for a mere $500,000...

...at least you can get it painted any way you want. My suggestion would be the color of a dollar bill, since it's probably the last time that buyer will be seeing that particular shade of green for a while...

Interesting.......
You can buy the fairly complexly constructed original GT 40 for about double the cost of a replica.....
Wheras the simply built 427 sells at 10 times the price of its replica.....
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.............

I was there Saturday night and got to see some great cars. The selling price when the gavel dropped vs. what was listed are different...is there a commission or taxes added???
For example the Cobra sold for $302,000 but is listed as selling for $332,750. The star of the show, a Ferrari 860 Monza sold for $1,750,000 but is listed as selling for $2,057,001.
Really something to see that kind of money change hands, and the value of some of these cars.

I think the prices listed include the auction's commission.

Typically, the commission is 10% on the sell side and 5% on the purchase side. Higher on the sell side if a reserve is set.
Thanks for the heads up on the no sale GT 40 III, Bob. That seemed low. I think one of them at BJ went for $375,000 earlier this year.

Yup...we were there. The prices do include the commisssion.
The 427 was Otis Chandler's car--had wider competition fenders added. Extremely clean.
The Monza was just flat breathtaking--a big bad 4 cyl pumping 300 hp and tons of torque and driven by Fangio...all the essentials for bringing top bucks.
The Mustang was Follmer's.
Heck of a grouping this year. There was a little MG Tickford that caught my eye that would never allow my butt to fit. Some D-type high end replicas were also very nice.
BTW Cal, the Gullwing at the Historics paddock that included the skins of Australia's Big Bird--same company as the one you bought?

Jamo:
I saw that Ostrich "leather" interior in the black 300SL Coupe. Pretty interesting and, undoubtedly, much softer than my leather.
Did anyone see the Chevrolet Echidna go through the auction block? I cannot find it on the auction site, despite a big promo add in some of the car mags, featuring the car's history.
