My Father managed 0-60 in 3.9 seconds at the Brighton Speed trials in 1967, the rear end was something stoopid like 4.1, so he just stuck it in second and floored it! I don`t know his quarter-mile times though.
The problem when racing was that he was having to back off about 1/2 way along the straights (6000rpm limit....2-bolt cranks!) which was only about 130mph.
