Is Carroll Shelby is NOT dead?
I was reading the August 6 edition of Australian Motorsport News yesterday when I came across an article talking about a race in Queensland which was a "tribute to Carroll Shelby, who passed away recently". Could anyone shed some light on this coz i really am sure I would have read about it here first if it were true.
Thanks guys,
Andy.

"The reports of his demise are greatly exaggerated"
...apparently an unfortunate misprint?
Recent passing of Carroll Smith many have confused the organizers?
(Moderator Note - this thread has been declared a "No-Bashing Zone"... think before you post.)

Well, that would explain the Ford deal and the 39K CSX cars.

This thread was in no way meant to be a for or against Carroll thread, it was merely an article that I read which i didnt think was correct. It was accompanied by a photo of the interior of a mustang with Shelbys autograph on the glovebox lid.
Andy.

Alive and kicking
He seemed very much alive and well last weekend (August 16-17) in Monterey, CA.

Hey Andy
You know you cannot trust those Queensland papers or editors to get it right.
I think I heard a mention of this story just recently regarding that article. I think the motoring editor gets out of his depth once the articles get away from a GM product or identity.
It shows or apparently shows that they do not check their facts.
Rest assured, that you will read any ground breaking news here from what I have seen.
Enthusiasts like us will 'Post' faster than Australian Post or US Mail.

You have to remember the time difference. I think they are ahead of us.
I didn't know that they were Years ahead.

Ron or Turk, can you please put this thread in the All Cobra Talk section. I posted it here by mistake. Thanks, Andy.

The Subject line of this thread needs tweaking given the knowledge this post has created. Poor Carroll, should he check in on us while this is active.

Andy, that was the Shannons Historic Festival with Shelby as the Featured Marque. I had my car entered in that event, and I think the journalist meant to say:
"Carroll Shelby would die if he saw what the Aussies were doing to the shape of his beloved Cobra....."
That event will go down in history as the one and only "show car" trophy that I will ever win!!!

So Craig, it was you darn Queenslanders making stuff up again! Are you sure that thing of yours has 800 horsepower?
Andy.
P.S. Thanks Turk.

Heck I been saying that about you guys down under for awhile.
Who knows WHAT you'll find under the hood, or worse, sticking OUT of the hood! Yeah, there a wild bunch down there.

800? Did I say that? I must have been misquoted.... It's only making 100hp per cylinder I'm pretty sure that you'll find Motorsport News is a Victorian publication.
Ernie - after seeing what you had draped over your hood at that Ricer show, you Hawaiians would probably also give Shelby a heart attack. The car was topless, I just don't see why the models didn't follow suit...

There was an obit in the recent issue of Vintage Racer on the passing of Carroll Smith.
