Was he a rocket scientist? I assume it was not a "well done" car. But being "home made" is not neccessarily a "bad thing". There are some awesome people out there.
......might be hell to get parts later on though!

I'd say that Chuck's "homemade" Daytona was worth about $150K and his 289 about $80K.

$45k, did it sell?
Taters,
Tojierio fabricated the first in a "chicken shed" with a crushed stone floor and leveled stakes for support in 1950 that was bought by Threlfall and raced with MG , JAP, Lea-Francis, Nash, just to name a few engines then on thru the years to the AC Ford power installed by a "real chicken farmer" and you worry about the phrase "homebuilt"?
Just a bit of morning trivia/humor, but even the homebuilts are falling in price with the economy of late.

Details?
Without details you sound just like another 'Cobra Snob". On the other hand if it was obviously a '72 Nova with Shelby badges and a 302 Ford/C4, Oh, wait a minute that's MY car.

Andy Brizio started out "home made" (back yard, driveway, garage, street, friends place). Now he's thought of as "one of the great ones".

John,
I 'm no snob, In fact I am the ultimate snob hater ( I live in SOCAL
now you understand) The doors on each side had large gaps, he was using a steering that look like it came off a cholos ( No offense Intended to my latino brothers) He had 18 inch wheels that looked like they came off a pimps car. This thing was a POS.

Taters,
It's good to see we have yet another "on the scene" Cobra reporter out there...thanks for telling us...why didn't you tell the owner? Let us know about every P.O.S. you run across OK?
Look at it this way...a P.O.S. is a good example of what NOT to do on your project. It's a warning...(Or did you laugh because you were expecting to pay less than $45K? for this P.O.S.)
BUT please try not to abuse the phrase "home made" -most "home made" cars built on this forum will stomp anything you've ever driven.
And after your purchase remember this forum of "home made" guys because you will undoubtably have mechanical questions.
I look forward to reviewing your car.

Henry Fords first car was "home made". Come to think of it, it didn't have a steering wheel either. But hey, a guys gotta start some where, lol.

Jeez!! You guys need to read between the lines of Taters' original posting. He SAID it was not a "kit." Taters should give MORE details, beyond the door gaps and cholo wheel. Kind of like those engineer-types that put a camper shell on the back of an old Ford LTD, or Caprice, etc etc, and seal the gaps with Henry's tar, out of the gallon cans!!

Good God. Everyone gets so damned upset when anything even slightly truthful is said about someone's car. Do we need a little thicker skin around here?
The term was "homemade" not "home-built". There's a difference. And yes, I've seen some phenominal homemade cars. I've also seen some unnerving homemade cars.
And I don't think Tater was laughing at the guy's car nor was he likely laughing at the effort that the guy put into creating his car. Tater was most likely laughing at the fact that someone expected to get $45-Large for a car that was apparently not up to par with others that are available for the same money in this market.
I feel that the person who needs educating here is the car owner. So let's ease up off Tater for a bit, shall we?
Or perhaps I'm reading this all wrong?
