Oh, yeah: I don't much care where I stay, although I'd prefer to be in a hotel with outside doors to the rooms and I agree London deserves our support. I do think, however, that having all those Cobras in one location and listening/watching them go back and forth is a big part of the enjoyment of an event like this. If there's another hotel location with enough rooms for all/most of the attendees, great. Otherwise I'd stay at one of the big three again.

DVSF III was the first one I had attended. I hope there will be a IV. Like no other event in the country. I like Gary's suggestion of a poker-run but how about a poker-run/ split the pot thing. Where the winner splits the pot and 1/2 goes to CF. I think the airport setup was great and I think we could all use a little more shade & vendors. The motels are where the real fun is no doubt! I think making use of that ball field accross from the motels would a great idea if we could?

It's only a little over eight months til the next DVSF IV. It's
been kinda quiet on the Ohio front about the new dates or even if there will be a DVSF IV. I know poor ED has a business to
run too but we gotta get the ball rolling early so we can sell more
raffle tickets, that is if someone donates a prize.
I got every pennies worth from the money I spent at the Fling.
I say that there should be discusion on some kind of Monatary
reward for all the work that ED and his family puts in. Let's face it guys, he probably loses money from taking time away from his shop. I think some kind of incentive to carry on would be nice.
Turk, what say you about an effort to raise money to off set the time that ED puts in for CF and the Fling?
I'm just trying to figur out the best way to keep a good thing going. I would sure hate for this to stop on account of burn out to Ed because of the work load. Anybody else have any ideas?
Hersh

Hersh, great idea! The amount of work that Ed does has to cost him money. I agree we should compensate him. The Fling is the best cobra event in the world and should continue!

Before this gets too much of a head of steam, you might want to talk to Ed. Having worked with him on the DVSF Website, I cannot imagine him accepting a single ¢ for doing DVSF-IV. Either he's going to do it or he won't, but I doubt that money will be the motivation.

I Agree
Tom,
I definitely agree with you.
I am not going to pretend I know Ed for more than a couple
of DVSF'S 1 & 2.
BUT I do consider myself a pretty good judge of people and
even though this maybe somewhat flattering to him,
I'm pretty sure he would not have it.
I'm almost positive he'd get a chuckle out if it
and say something like:
Awww... heck, ya otta juz give it to Team Jenny.

I don't know about that. Fact is, it's more than just labor, it cost Ed a certain dollar amount to do this. And it's not only Ed, he does have business partners after all, and employees that build cars for a living. I like it when my friends volunteer their help, and I'm careful not to take advantage of their kind spirit.

There had BETTER be a DVSF.4....!
I can't imagine not having a .4 event...can't imagine not driving to Columbus next June to meet up again with some of the best people in the world to support one of the best causes in the world.
ED...DAMMIT...DON'T YOU DARE CRAP OUT ON US NOW! I still got another box of leis to get rid of...!
(Jack...glad to hear your repairs went so well..! Now, don't do anything like that again, will ya..?)
From my perspective.... Hotels are as much a part of the event as anything. Too much fun going on right outside your door to ignore...plain and simple. Who can dispute fun times with great people...and you can just stagger back to your room when you need to...?
Friday night at Choctaw was nice....transportation was lacking from my perspective...just took too long to turn the bus from one location to another. Most of us wound up taking private transportation and lived with the consequences...no prob... Food was good, but seating was short. Okay, I lived with it....
The local band left a lot to be desired...again, just my view. Rip Chords were another story...NOT having them there for .4 would be a travesty. I think they had as much fun as the attendees did...I know I sure enjoyed their presence!
Autocross was a great idea....now improve on it. Maybe at the airport? Drag strip area was good too....
London was...what can I say?.....superb. A lot of nice people, nice venue, good amenities, and I think this is as much a part of the event...in fact the MAJOR part of the event. A small town carnival atmosphere...love it! Like someone said...hotdogs and funnel cakes...what's more carnival than that? Okay...conga lines and skimpily clad babes....but we're in Ohio remember....? Not Brazil....!
Lose the Sunday PM cruise through town, though...not enough participants for the effort.
I like the Ball Field tent idea above....something close to the hotels. Maybe a big onsite barbeque....cook right there for all to see, hear, smell...followed up with an outdoor concert by the Rip Chords. Now we talkin'...!
Above all....like "Field of Dreams", Ed....if you build it, we will come....

I to like the party at the hotel instead of the lakes idea. We won't have an autocross unless it can be improved! I know the Rip Chords had a good time but is it worth paying them to have so much fun!!!
LONG LIVE DVSF!!!!!!

This was my first Fling, hope it's not my last! Really want to attend another, but, I know Ed was worn out. We need to make things easier for Ed, this is too good a thing to let die. Even though most of us are not local, there must be a way to lighten the load somehow. I enjoyed downtown London the most, with the airport a close second. Jack, glad your car is back in operation, I didn't see those cones, either! And my car is way slower than yours! Can't wait to renew the friendships I made at the fling, we need to have another.

There isn't much that I would change for the Fling.......If I would change anything, Lake Choctaw would be it....to me that was the least fun of the weekend....Ok, we need a place for the auction...how about a floating auction, that follows us around for the weekend, with everything going on Sunday at the airport...another place like QSL on Friday would work for me....a place that DV feels deserves the money we would spend....this would take care of the expense of the lake......freeing up money for other things...or just cutting down on expenses....My feelings on the Rip Chords are....they must come back, and are more than willing to make this a yearly event....dump the local band....music was ok, but not music for the Fling....a DJ would play the oldies that goes with the cars....while taking a break for the Rip Chords to play....autocross was fine.....as was airport....still the after hours get togethers were the best.....it's already Sept....and I sure hope that DVSF III wasn't the last....
