Passed by a small cruise event last night and talked with a guy who has a '95 Corvette that had some Lingenfelter (sp?) modifications to the engine.
It was white with black stripes. The guy was really great in telling me all about the car. I noticed that he had a couple of Grand Sport emblems on the side and the rear fender flares and the correct Grand Sport wheels. Hhhmmmm what is wrong with this picture, I wondered.
Not being a Corvette junkie I asked him if he had the car painted. I thought that all the Grand Sports Chebby put out a few years back were all blue with yellow rookie stripes.
He gave me a big smile and said that his was a '95 Vette and all the Grand Sports were '96. He showed me where the difference in body between the 2 years was.
At that point I just had to ask the question -- "How do you feel about owning a replica Grand Sport?" He gave a big smile and said he loved it. Very good natured guy. There was Cobra parked across so I naturally had to ask if he had any street run-in with a Cobra and how did he fare. His Vette engine makes about 450 HP (and a number of Englishtown class winner stickers under the hood to back up his assertion)
He once again smiled with the reply -- "I have taken a number of Vipers" But what a Cobras, who cares about Vipers. Realizing I was not going to let go, he admitted he wanted no part of a Cobra that was well put together.
Can't wait to get to NJ -- seems like there are a lot of cruises to be found!
