Turk.

You just perfectly expressed my views on ownership. Cars should be bought for enjoyment, not investment. If rich poeple buy cars for investment purposes the prices go up so that the people who will appreciate them and use them can no longer afford them.

Mike...interesting post. No doubt there will soon be more competition in the replica industry. Perhaps the dust has not yet settled in the CS camp so he decided to jump in the fracas of free competition...aiming at one of his stronger competitors . I am most curious to see one of these new cars up close before I could base my own light weight opinion. About 4 years ago I was sure by now the industry would have left some manufacturers in it's wake. What do I know ! The past two years have demonstrated all still remain and in fact there are more entries to the ever growing market. But, could you please respond to the question posed by Computerworks ?

Mine was started in a 2 car garage of a 4 bedroom house in Simi Valley, and finished in my present garage of a 4 bedroom house with a 3 car garage Redwood City, I thinks the car's buildup expertise has somehing to do with the number of bedrooms, some upstairs and yet some downstairs or the way the doors opened for the closets, but all were located in California. It's been on the road now almost 7 years. Yep, it's a California car smuggled into the state from Fargo. Has any one thought of building replicas in.......Vegas????

I don't recall anyone taking a shot at Superformance or bad mouthing them, so what is the motivation behind this "Super" defensive post.

Default Money Talks...

Hey Mike,
in the world of money and business, guess what happens when one new company pops up right next door to the other one?

As soon as employees find out they can make more money elsewhere, or if they dislike their boss, they'll take their 10 years of sweat and go next door from SPF to Shelby. Just like that, taking their experience with them. It's probably already happening, and part of the business plan to compete. The competetion certainly isn't going to be limited to who can build the cheaper value now... Five years from today could turn out to be a whole different picture. Watch and see what happens. Good Luck to all in South Africa!

My sense is that certain un-named individuals were wounded in a real vs. replica battle and felt the need to construct a replica hierarchy that let them feel better about themselves. My guess is that they probably missed Turk's point about why you fool around with Cobras in the first place.

My analysis could be wrong insofar as this anonymous individual has a small block. Given the rest of this person's arguments; I would not have expected the "mine is bigger than yours" sentiment to cave in.

Default value

Hey... If you like your car and get personal use and value from it, it really does not matter what you paid for it, or what you sell it for down the road.

The only time that I think $value and resale matters to some here is if they really don't like their car as much as they had hoped, (or they could not afford it in the first place) and are now considering applying the proceeds to making an upgrade or change of cars in the near future.

Thankfully I don't have to worry about that problem. My car is an ERA Replica, Replica, Replica, and I would not have it any other way. Real what? Real fiberglass, metal, and parts? Real Fun! There are definitely bigger things to get hung up on in life than this...

Run what ya' brung.

Cool

Folks, for those that don't know who Mike is (funny how no other Superformance forum member who is also here did not state it), allow me to enlighten you.

SCORE and the SECOND STRIKE is founded and managed by Mike Stenhouse

Now you know why he seems a bit miffed by the undertakings of Shelby Inc with it's new competition to the Superformance line..............We now understand a bit more of his hit and run tactics here, along with his new "groupie" attitude towards anything else not related to Superformance in a positive way.

You all have a nice day................

Bill S.

PS: I am not a FFR, Contemporary, nor Superformance "groupie or elitist". I am just a regular Cobra enthusiast enjoying my time on this planet...............

SPF produces a great car. Better yet is how they treat owners. My experience with them has all been positive. I do not care about investment. To me, a Cobra is for driving. I never intend to sell it. Mike is being MIke. He has a passion and commitment for SPF. What you see is what you get. I see no need to find an underlying motive.

Carroll,
so would it be safe to assume that Mike likes his Superformance?

That's great, and that's how it should be. Have fun!

MIke does not only like his SPF. He "loves" his SPF and the people associated with it.

If everyone would have Mike's passion for something meaningful to them in life and have the tolerance for others to have their passion, the world would be a better place.

Cool

Guys, there is no doubt that Mike loves his SPF, or that SPF makes a great kit. What is suspect is Mike's motive for starting this thread, and his lack of follow up.

OK,,,,the original post now makes more sense, thanks for clarifying that Bill.

SPF, great car, I can certainly understand the passion these cars produce!

By the way, I really really love my Excalibur. I think it's the coolest Cobra in Hawaii (OK mostly because it's mine). Made in the USA too (well,,,the company was owned by Germans). Man life is complicated, LOL

It's bad enough when CS spins the original copy original jig, now Mike S. claims that there's only one True South African. Puhleeese.

Sorry guys, but calling another replica car maker an "imitator" just because they're from South Africa implies a caste system that is crap. It's OK to love your Cobra (Replica), it's OK to love your Cobra (Replica) manufacturer, but what does that have to do with anyone else's car?

I don't think anyone is copying anyone. they are going for "where to get the most bang for their buck". The cars will be build as engineered. South Africa has got to be cheaper than anywhere in the US, in labor, rent, benefits, power, etc.
Bottom line, a lot of America's stuff is made in countries with cheap labor, nothing wrong with that either, as companies all want to make a profit, and buyers want a deal. Look at Nike! I pay $75 (+) for a pair of ked hitops that cost them maybe 4 or 5 dollars to make in some country where you could probably buy a life for $20.Top computer "software guru's" in India are where MicroSoft sends you when your having problems with Flight Simulator software. They do just as good a job, and cost next to nothing. Again, nothing wrong with this. So, pay an engineer to design you a car, have another engineer design a plant, and get a labor force to put it together. All they have know is their particular part of the build, and at the end of the finish line is a completed object. Couldn't be easier.
Didn't Japan name a town or place USA where they made merchandise, shipped it out here and put a ltag on it saying "Made in USA"?
Sneaky huh?????
