Default New SAI If Buying Today?

If you had $40K to spend on a roller today which product would you choose?

If you have a SPF and have driven and enjoyed it I would not blame you wanting another one. Same for ERA or many others.
But would this new SAI product interest you?

Many have said that if SAI came to market with a quality product at a reasonable price it would be it hit. They have and it will be! I just wonder how many current owners of other Cobras would consider an SAI product if they had it to do all over again.

Now that you don't have to be a RICH attorney like Evan to have a CSX number I think we will see the SAI numbers grow.

I can't remember the tread or topic now,it's been awhile, but a number of people said if CS wanted to put the replica makers out of business all he had to do was build a Superformance type car (turnkey minus car) and sell it at a comparable price to a comparable car and he would/could put a lot of makers out of business....

Guess he finally wised up and decided to try it....If you can't close em down in court, out sell em and close down in the market place.....

I think the majority of replica owners would love to have a CSX car and if the price was comparable to let's say a Superformance and the quality was there I personally think they would go that route and have a CSX car.....

Only time will tell if this venture will work or not.... SAI will have to deliver a quality product to compete with similarly priced replicas.....

SAI may hurt the sales of the mid to upper priced replicas but I do not think they will affect very much the FFR types that want to build their own car...

To answer your question, yes, if I was buying a car in that price range the first one I'd look at is the new offering from SAI. It would be my one and only chance to own a CSX car.....

If price was the same, and quality relatively close, I'd go CSX.

Michael,,,,,,,,,,,,Either way?

Though they be identical twins:

Only one has the birth right to be called a Shelby.

I would have definetly bought the CSX if I had known that there was going to be such a car. I'm sure the quality will be there. I'm still learning a lot about the cars but I would be driving right now if I had bought a true roller.

I would purchase the CSX car if I thought it was the best value(best car for the $$). The CSX # just doesn't do it for me. No offense to the CSX # lovers or their cars.

The CSX # doesn't do it for me either, just like if I was in the market for a '33 Ford 3 window replica I wouldn't need it to be a steel body made by Henry.Too many other great builders, like Codington,Foose or Alloway to settle for vanilla.ERA and SPF and others are free to interpret without the limitations of genetics. For 40k,my roller will(hopefully soon) be ERA or SPF.I'm simply more impressed with whats under their skirts.

I gotta agree... I missed the first batch of CSX cars back in the 60's.... after that they're just another replica...

I think you guys that are minimizing the value of a CSX number are out of touch with the "real" world (ha ha, I made a pun)! Not being mean or anything, I just don't understand how you can come to that conclusion. I'm SURE you guys represent a small (all be it vocal) minority on that issue!

It is hard to fathom that anybody familiar with Cobras would even hesitate to choose a CSX car over another car of comparable quality. EVEN if the CSX car cost a "little" more!

OK, Ernie , I'll help you row this boat.

I wouild almost surely choose the CSX car , not as much for the name ( but some) but for its very close resembance to the original car ....Frame , suspension, running gear, sreering ,the whole bit..

Let me give another example.I'm also an avid firearms enthusiast, especially of the Gov't model 1911.I own a full custom Colt, and maybe the resale might be higher, but for the boys and girls who want to really go out and play Springfield would be a great choice. The Kirkham equivalent would be Les Baer or Wilsom Custom. The cops of L.A. SWAT who's lives depend on these choose Kimber. All great 1911 pattern semiautos, with different emphases, upper end prices very similar.I hope to be buried in my Cobra at 100 (and who knows,my tombstone may have a CSX#) It always just doesn't boil down to dollars,as "value" assumes many forms.IMHO

gary,
Aren't guns a little more of a trend? A fad, if you will.
Wasn't that long ago, Beretta 9mm was the choice of law enforcement. I even remember the 38s, the 45 and even the 357 in the holsters of many police departments.
Today it is one thing, tomorrow another.

I suspect the same goes with Cobras. They do with othr car manufacturers, why would the Cobras be any different?

For me, it will always be ERA.

Big Ern, I suspect my $14. Wrangler jeans my wife buys me at Walmart are replicas of $29. Levis. If Levis were dropped down to $15., would I prefer them over the Wranglers? No, the Wranglers suit me just fine. If Levis were $13. would I prefer them? Yes, if they were as good as the Wranglers I would buy the Levis. Same goes for Cobras, is the CSX # was important to me I would buy a CSX car. As it is, I went with a KMP, 'cause the CSX # doesn't matter to me. Would I pay big bucks for a CSX2000 or CSX3000 series? If I thought I could have fun with it and get a handsome ROI, you betcha. The way I see it replicas and new CSX cars are for fun, most will depreciate. That's cool, my F350 is depreciating also.
