"AC is the only company that can continue production of what they, and they alone built in the first place."
OK, so they can build AC's. SHELBY likewise is the ONLY one that can build REAL COBRAS. And thats what he does, the ones built TODAY are in fact real Shelby Cobras.

It seems like Ford, and Ford alone owns the Cobra name, so, technically, only Ford could build a Cobra.

think again
Ernie,
There is "talk" that Ford will in fact build a 2 seater named....you got it...."COBRA".
BTW, you did know SPF is building a GT-40 roller? <It's off the subject, but it will have a steel spider roof like the originals. No Gurney hump though

I heard that SPF is building a GT-40, don't know much about it. Oh wait,,,,,, is this another "rumor"? LOL
Haven't heard the rumor about Ford building a 2 seat "Cobra". I am certainly not confused about their Mustang Cobra's and will not be concerned about their 2 seat "Cobras" as well. They might be interesting!
To bad Ford lost the rights to the GT-40 name, but their new "GT" is still a very very cool car. Ford clearly deserves to be the builder of the new GT-40, with or without the name intact!
What if Shelby used the AC body's and frames made NOW to build his new continuation series Cobras? Now THAT would be AWESOME! The cars he IS building are "real" enough for me! Wether Kimmons, McKluskey, Kirkham or whatever as "suppliers".
But man, talk about coming full circle if Shelby hooked up with AC again. Now THAT would be mind boggling!

Think about it, Ernie, SPF604 may be right
--didn't Shelby, SAI sell the rights to the Cobra name to Ford in the late '60's early "70's?
-- Isn't/hasn't Ford beenthe only company that built and badged their line-up with "Cobra" 'cuz they owned the name
--Do any of the crop of Ford badged "Cobras" look anything like a 2 seat aluminum sportscar as produced in the'60's
to all of you
It really doesn't make a difference what company is owned, bought/sold, moved ,or by whom or whatever as long as they deliver an honest product to their customer, be it built in SA, LV, CT, UT or wherever--some maybe a better more "accurate product" to the orginal but you know what? no matter what you drive it is yours and others watching you roll down the road will admire your"Cobra"
What a bunch of nit-pickin' old fuds---- you guys must get a real zest of life to denigrate one another for opposing opinions and ideas as some of you do

Ford builds a two seater, calls it a "Cobra", it's looks pretty good, got that "retro" feel/look to it. So far so good, cool car.
Now Shelby comes along, puts HIS name on it, slaps on a CSX number and oh boy,,,,,,we got us a rumble in the jungle now!!! LOL

SPEEDEAMON...
....Brian Angliss is "retired" and living on the Isle of Guernsey with the remanants of his airplane and motorcycle collection. He has had NO ownership or managment connection to AC since the 1995 receivership.
Brian was a good guy until he became more concerned with collecting airplanes than building cars circa 1987 or so. Brian had been a guest in my home a few times when he was operating Autokraft and when he took over AC. As time went on he became increasingly difficult to work with and less responsive.
I am certain AC would not reply to your fax with any info about him, he is "personna non grata" amoungst the AC people and don't even whisper his name around the Ford Motor guys...

Superformance is building a GT-40 roller. It is not built in the same facility as the current MkIII, Coupe, and S1. It is being built in a completely different facility and even in a different city in SA. I don't know if or when it will come to the U.S.
A new "real" Ford Cobra........a modern interpretation...could be interesting.

MkIV.
You are correct concerning Brian Angliss - he certainly has no current involvement with AC and I have not seen him since the mid 90's. This is in some respects a shame as he is a really interesting guy to be with and did as much as anyone to resurrect the Cobra. It is often the case in the specialist car business that the love of toys can blind people to the realities of business life. Maybe the saying that "it is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all" applies though?
The world would certainly be a poorer place if none of us were capable of the sort of emotion that the Cobra can generate. We should be grateful to all those who created it or sustained it. In addition to providing beautifull looks and a thrilling ride it also has the capacity to generate passionate controversy on even the most arcane of elements - from rivet heads upwards!
Randy.
It may indeed be true that there is still another legal entity that is entitled to call itself AC. The latest invoice I have from them is headed AC Autokraft as opposed to earlier ones that were in the name of AC Car Group Ltd. When I get a spare minute during business hours I will find out from the creditors and/or administrators of the previous company if any other legal entities were spun off following the last restructuring. Has Jim mentioned what Allans current role is? The last time I met them they appeared to be on good terms.

Sheby American
I found while doing a search on Yahoo! that Shelby American is/has been bought out ( August 03 ). They have been losing millions on the Series 1 and have been trying to delay DOT safety regulations for emplimentation of side/front air bag systems. I don't remember the company that bought them out but they will retain the Shelby name something like Shelby International. Now the company has money which is what they needed. The ShelbyAmerican website has been down until this is legally completed even though the shelbyautos website is still running. The plant has even stopped making tours also.

Actually, I believe their new name is Shelby Autos and it is Shelby who bought out the old Ginseng corp and then changed the name.
With respect to the plant tours, they moved to another building ~200 yards from their old building and their Cobra line went from ~10,000 sq ft to 30,000 sq. ft. Thus, they are very much alive and prospering in their new form now that they no longer have the Series 1 deadwood.
Regards,
Keith

Actually NOT!
I read what I read and it wasn't Shelby buying out anyone. They are heavily in dept. some 23million according to what I read. This wasn't a forum but a factual report from a news source. Regardless of the plant, Shelby is not the one buying out the other.

JannieClueless,
Have you ever heard of the search function? Read all of the old postings on this.
http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/t421...-&pagenumber=1
Also, with all of your 8 postings, what makes you think you are an expert?
I smell a rat. Usually I refrain from this, but I have posted your email to me because I question your motive.
This is your email verbatim. Why such venom for a newbie?
This is the message:
Go read the new post you are wrong, big time. I was right on even close on the name being Shelby International. Why must people like you think they know it all when they are dead wrong? You don't even own a cobra or have you? Jeez, I laugh at your ignorance!
JohnnyQ, - Pound sand!
