Malta
I've heard the Malta factory will export AC Cars direct to the new dealer in Washington DC. Hence AC/DC

If AC is shipping chassis' to Shelby, then why is there a AC roller sitting in a Superformance shop now (see earlier post w/ picture). SPF's have been coming with AC steering wheel hubs and available AC badges for your car and center caps for your wheels ever since they were no longer able to put the "Cobra" and "427" badges on (after the lawsuit). Now AC is selling chassis to Shelby?? Who's working with WHO??????

You don't suppose the one sitting in the SPF show room is a replica? Nahhh,,,,,,,couldn't be that.
The one coming to Shelby is the real replica, right???
Whew, it is hard to keep up with the "AC" name these days. What DOES it all mean?

I have to say that now the AC Cars .co.uk website is gone, AC`s presence on the net being AC Automotive looks really cheap & gives no indication of the Class, Heritage or Quality that is the cornerstone of AC`s heritage & desirability.
The obvious meaning of "AC" is now
" Absolute Confusion"!
(or Apalling Cwality!!!of the website!)

News in Autoweek that the product from AC will be a carbon fiber body and will be made in Malta as a rolling chassis and shipped stateside to Shelby for engine and gearbox.

WATCH MY LIPS....
...THERE WILL NOT BE A "PRODUCTION" FACILITY ON MALTA!!!!
Lubinsky has been floating this scam for over a year. He is NOT capitilized to do any real sort of volume production. Not to mention what is the market in the USA for a 6 cylinder powered "AC Ace?" ten, maybe twenty cars? We told him that 4 years ago. The car is not revered here as it was in the UK.
When all the truth comes out about this, and it will, everyone will see "who did what to whom."
IF anyone here choses to do business with Mr. Lubinsky make sure your investment is escrowed by a reliable third party. He has already broken contractural agreements with Jimmy Price, myself and several others so unless you think you are luckier, I would protect myself.
Sorry to sound so negative, but we have been down this road before.
Rick
ALSO....Lubinsky's "AC Automotive" website shows photos of the Frimley works, now shut down and offers cars (the MK II, MK III) that he does not have tooling for nor the rights to build....

Thanks,MKIV, that`s pretty much what I had heard. It`s a real shame that this is such a mess.

Carbon fiber is not a viable alternative to anything. It's cost inefficient except for boats and race cars, cannot be produced with ripple free, smooth aesthetically pleasing results and why would anyone want to pay the price for it when an easier, more reliable step would be from fiberglass to alloy. Lubinsky's past dealings remind me of the clown on TV peddling ways to get the government to subsidize anything and everything, provided you buy his book. I wonder if Mr. Lubinsky has purchased his entire wardrobe from Sears or Big Lots?

HE
has conned the Maltese government into providing assistance in return for the "jobs' he will create. If this works like most of the tax abatement programs in NEw York he will promise a lot of jobs and deliver very few but the state never goes back and asks for the money!
And I used the really obvious joke about this in a related thread some time ago....the cars you really want to build on Malta are old Fords, you know the famous "Maltese Falcon!!!!!!!!!!"
Mr. Lubinsky has run scams before , he will do it again. He had no problems with screwing a "friend" out of several hundred thousand pounds, he will have no compunction about taking a government for as much as they will give.
Rick

,,,how fitting the Maltese Falcon.
From the movie:
"What is it?" Spade (Bogart) responds grimly while touching the "snake" [paraphrasing from Prospero's speech in Act IV of Shakespeare's The Tempest]:
"The, uh,,, stuff that dreams are made of."

AC back in production at Frimley
Press release in UK publication "Classic Car Weekly" for 17th November states that the UK Frimley plant has resumed production of Chassis/Body units for supply to Shelby.
The article also goes on to state that the Malta plant will start production in early 2004 of the Composite bodied ACE & 'Cobras' for the UK,Euro & 'rest of the world' markets.
Alan Lubinsky is quoted as saying "we are delighted to have resumed production & supply to Shelby blah blah blah"(paraphrased by me!)
[b]SO WHAT IS THE REAL SITUATION NOW????

These news releases have a common bond with the main character in Jim Carey's movie "Liar, Liar". One says one thing, the other states just the opposite. If these guys were pinocchio we'd be knee deep in splinters.

I think this "press" release was pretty much debunked here on aonther thread.
No one is buying the press release for many reasons.

Ya know.....if you go to www.carsmalta.com there is a discussion thread about any and everything ( much like humble ol' Club Cobra ) reguarding autombiles, govt regulations, and yes, kit carson the islandof Malta. BUT THERE ISNT ONE PEEP ABOUT A FACTORY OPENING UP TO PRODUCE COBRAS. Matter of fact, there is only one casual mention of a single Cobra at all and that had to deal with registration ( maybe the state of california has been advising the Maltese government about paperwork).
Who would have thought that the automotive hobbyist population of an entire Mediterranean island could be so blind to the events taking place right under their collective noses??
