Ron,

My CCX number was the entire VIN, there was no extra numbers or leeters on the Vermont or NJ title.

My vin is the serial number from Shell Valley with the letters IA in front of it. Sure plays havoc with the insurance companies.

Chased down some more info on the car...
Claim is that it's a 1992 build, 427 side oiler,
"and a custom roll bar mounted behind the drivers seat with the third support member going through to the trunk"
www.arealgem.com/cobra.htm. I followed that and it took me to a real estate site..
Whatever,

Well, it is a one of a kind collectors masterpiece (sellers words),with cooper COBRA tires, that has to be worth something. It also has 500hp @ 7200rpm (seller), which is a lot of rpm, even for a side oiler.

Regardless of whether his exact wording is technically considered legal, it's pretty obvious that his intention is to mislead an uninformed buyer into thinking that this car is something more than a replica. It is not.

That, in and of itself, should be illegal. Of course, it probably isn't.

I believe Larry Bowman owns the car, he is a local guy who owns a number of very collectable racing Corvettes and Cobras. He normally has his own stand with roughly 8-10 cars at the Palo Alto Concourse. In addition he was racing a couple of Cobras down in Monterey last month. Here is a picture of his engine bay (REAL CSX 3036).

I'm still able to pull up the E-bay auction on the car?

I know that someone pointed out the original "guardian" blue paint on an earlier post.

Wasn't the color called "Guardsman" blue?

Or, am I going too much for the obvious here?

Another hint that the thing is not exactly on the up-and-up?

Question

That perky butt sure looks like an FFR. The gas tank, like a ladies slip, is showing! But I can't tell about the license plate light....

FFR has it coming to a prominent point where it mounts on the trunk.

Do Shell Valley cars:
Have a perky butt?
Have a pointy license plate mount on the trunk?

What the heck is a "kevlar" body anyway?

Still on e-bay. He's got one bid!

Ernie

Several characteristics appear to be closer to an older Shell Valley than others cars when looking at the - High rolll bar, windshield angle, swept up doors, hanging gas tank, front and rear fender profile and height in contrast to other parts of the body...etc.

Default Earlier than a '95 then

My SV was built in '95 and doesn't have a butt like that. The hood latches are different as are the front fender flares. My doors are shaped differently on the bottom also. The tank is also a different shape. The dash is similar though. May be a SV from way before mine?

The car looks somewhat like one of the 2 first FFR prototype cars, but if it was built in 1990, it's about 5 years too early to be one of them.

FFR offered those composite bodies for a short time several years ago... It was still listed as a $2000. option when I was looking for a kit but the information was outdated and the body was not available to purchase.. One of the local Cobra owners has one and I'm not sure that he's all that delighted with it...
