Goodwood 2003-Cal's pictures
Here are some images from Goodwood 2003...
Essex Wire GT-40. This car, I think, was the winner last year
A Curtis Pontiac, circa 1952-54. Supposedly $500,000 to restore this one. It was flawless.
Business end of the Curtis with the Hilborn Injectors
The Cad Farrellac. So durable that the engine has been rebuilt only once in twenty years.
Devin SS. Very nice but too tall a gear for the track. He would shift into 4th. about half way down the front straight.
Remington with Mike Loman who worked originally on the Tojiero Fords and Buicks. The guy just part way in the pic was Dick Linhearst who was the chief draftsman on the Gurney Westlake Head project. They originally designed a three valve version that put out over 600 h.p. on a SB but the size and cost precluded construction.

Business end of a Corvette Grand Sport brought over by the Collier Collection. 58 DCOE Weber side drafts. Big enough to swallow a small dog. 377 cid SB. Very nice.
Remington with Brad Hand, Crew Chief for Don Orosco's Scarab Sports Car and Offy Scarab.
Rem with Don Orosco in the Scarab Continuation. Absolutely flawless. They lost a rearend in both the Offy Scarab and the Roadster. Some of the parts used to make the Scarab were from the original Reventlow car. Brad should Phil some of the pieces that had his signature on them.
More of the same.
View of part of the front straight.
Lord March's home at Goodwood. It looked an awful lot like the garage Snakeeyes uses to house his collection. I think this pic is a "replica" of the Bob Brzezinski shed.
Club Cobra member extraordinaire, Paul House, basking in the glory of OY 2. I think he was listening to the ghost of Max Balchowsky while sitting in the cockpit.

Robert Sarillah with Rem. He was the winner last year in the blindingly fast Cobra. They wouldn't let him race it again this year because of his win last year.
Nice Maserati 300S (I think)
Future racer. Children of Mario Hytten who comes to the races each year and always visits the OY 2 paddock.
another view of front straight.
More of same.
Public grandstands along the main straight.
ALL DONE! ...ron

Truly very nice pics! I'm hoping to make it out next year with a couple friends from Hawaii.

Great pictures Cal, trust me to have my eyes shut. I was day dreaming what it would be like to drive it.
Is the gentleman with Phil Remington Alan Mann?

Paul:
You are correct. The photo is that of Allen Mann who campaigned, under contract, the Coupes in Europe in the later part of the '65 season. In talking with him, it takes all of about six seconds to realize that you are talking to a very smart, perceptive person. He and Phil talked for about an hour or so. Allen was racing a Cortina at GW.
