Default 351W side emblems

Hey Guys,

I recall seeing a post about 351W side emblems. I found a site from England that offers them and I e-mailed them but they never responded to my e-mails.

Does anyone have a source for the 351W emblems?

Tony

No, I'm pretty sure the place in England is the only one who has(had) them. But even if they do have them, with the exchange rate they are something like $45 apiece. A Windsor is nice, but not worth that much to advertise...

I think "351 Windsor", "351 Cleveland", and "351 Shelby Equipped" side emblems are available. I get most of my OEM British parts from europaspares.com (cobraspares.com - same company).

Tony Branda and Finishline are other sources.

That being said, Cobras were made in '63 & '64 with 289 HiPo motors. The side emblems said, "Powered by Ford". In '65 & '66, they came with 427's and 428's. The side emblems said, "427 Ford Cobra".

Today, "427 Ford Cobra" generally denotes an FE series engine; 390, 427, 428. And "Powered by Ford", means any other Ford engine, even the 351's which didn't come about until the car was out of production (351 Windsor in '68, 351 Cleveland and 429 fat block in '69).

No emblem at all usually means Powered by Chevy. Ha Ha.

Also, today, the waters are muddier still with stroker kits so readily available. 347's from 302's, 393's and 408's from 351's, 521's from 460's. (add a supercharger and get 1,000 RWHP).

Anyway, I stuck a "Powered by Ford" emblem on mine. The valve covers say "Ford Motorsport". The actual displacement (357) is nobody's business but mine, and is subject to change anyway (393). Some guys will ask you, "So what do you have in it?", since you don't have the displacement advertized on the side of the car. It's a great conversation starter.

Tony,
I know they were available a little over a year ago, and I am almost certain that I saw them in my Cobra Restorers catalog that I have at home. I looked online but they don't appear to be listed. I will look at my catalog at home and get back with you.

Hey Guys,

I found 'em in my Cobra Restorers catalog from about two years ago. There were two variations available, the first was part number EM037 and verbage was "WINDSOR" (where "427" would be) and "351" (where "COBRA" would be) price $16.95 each, this one looks similar to the standard "427 COBRA" emblem. The other one is probably a restoration piece for a mid '60's Mustang but has the "Cobra" snake on it with the verbage "351" in large letters and "Shebly Equipped" to the right of it, part number EM003, price of $16.95 each. The size and shape of the second one appears to be the same as the first one. Like I stated in the prior message, I looked on line at Cobra Restorers and could not find them listed to puchase so you might want to call and ask. They are still pictured in one of the picture links under Emblems on their sight though. Their number is (770) 427-0020.

Hope it helps,

John
