Yeah, I tracked down a GT-500 here locally.

Now heres the deal. It was a GT-350 refitted with a 427SO and re-badged as a GT-500 offered at $45K (last I heard it was STILL FOR SALE, BTW).

So, what do we have here? A screwed up 350 or a GREAT 350 with a 427SO? $45K in the ball park for price?

MAXVELLO and rem, how did you have any room to breathe? Not a barn find, but a friend stopped by today and I found out his father in law just passed away last night. He's a local guy with an original 289 car that will probably be up for sale in the not too distant future. I wouldn't expect any barn price though. He had quite a collection of fine cars and donated a '53 'vette to the Corvette museum in the recent past.

That is an interesting car to say the least.

The dragonsnakes were a little differant, but this is no dragonsnake.

Default My apologies!

...for the inaccuracies in my post!

As Ron explained, this would not qualify as an "Urban Legend" if the owner is aware of its value...and in this case he does.

Also... I stated that it was stored in a barn for 30+ years...

I was wrong again...It was stored in a garage!

My apologies to any farmers that consequently may have been offended by any of the above remarks.

Never the less...it's both a great find (my first! ) and a great story!

I don't know if it was a "lost" one or perhaps it's already in the registry. I'll let someone else confirm that.

Tom

By the way: CSX 3180 White (no stripes) 427

Pictures will be forthcoming in a day or two.

Tom, knowing you from other car hobby sites and having exchanged emails with you, I was ready to add to this to help you out as I never doubted what you found, but I see we are all set. Computerworks will dig in and validate the reality of it. After all, reality is tough to determine on occasion.

I gotta admit, I was thinking this was not "nomal" for Ohekk to be reporting a find like this without SOMETHING really going on here.

,,,,,you know, like falling down the elevator shaft or something, LOL. By the way Tom, what ever happened to the elevator idea?

What did that puffer-fish Cobra start out as? An MGA perhaps?

Arrow

Definetly an MGA, the oval grills on the hood sides and the hood shape are a dead give away.

I saw that posted on the ffcobra forum, seen at a cruise/show.

It looks like an early re-body deal. The Oval cutouts on the hood are earmarks of an MGA, as well as the rounded front edge of the hood... so Pete may have hit it.

An overall poor idea... would rather have the MGA.

CSX 3180:

Invoiced to SAI on 12/3/65. Billed to Broadway Motors of Topeka, KS. on 3/18/66. Ivory Color. $6,088.00 plus freight of $205. Broadway elected not to keep the car and it was subsequently invoiced to Herb Tousley Ford of White Bear Lake, Minnesota.

Tousley picked up the car for $6,150.00 plus $240 in freight and was sold to Robert Tracy of Rochester, Minnesota. Tracy encountered severe knocking problems in May of '66 wherein Tousley replaced the crank and bearings for $222.00 which was covered under warranty. The owner stopped making payments on the car and it was sold to a resident of Wisconsin in 1970 who chooses to remain anonymous.

...thanks, Cal.

...and, I have no pics in my files on 3180...so that would explain that.

Now, if Tom would be so kind as to....

Default Sorry for the delay!

I took pictures but had to get the film developed.

The photo lab closed early so I couldn't pick them up!

I don't have a scanner!

I mailed the pictures to a friend to scan and post

He wasn't home when they were delivered

His wife was at the post office when they were trying a 2nd delivery attempt

His wife will pick up the pictures today

I hope his scanner works!
