Mexico small block
I have a Mexico small block available to me for $300US - $350, are they any better than a normal small block pending condition?
I would consider fitting a cradle or better main caps to it, and they are getting old now, have thought of a dart block, but as my car is mainly road with some racing the additional cost of the dart block $$$ can be used elsewhere like for a set of trigos etc

If it is the Mexican block that is talked about regularly, it has a main casting and caps like the 289 Hi-Po. I don't think there are other differences.

No problem, I just want to make sure your getting what your paying for, as not all of the Mexican Block Fords have the much desired "Higher Nickel content, or beafier lower end"....The casting numbers off the block will tell me if this is what your looking to buy or not....Just let me know...
Sincerely,
Bill S.

MEXICAN SMALL BLOCKS
Ant, I have heard and read in several magazines that the mexican small blocks were a good deal because they inherently had a higher nickel content in them. I would pay to have it magna-fluxed and checked if the sleeves have another bore job in them 1st. Good luck

Mexican
Steve,
Thanks will do that, I am going to get the numbers for Bill S to check out, so I know exactly what I have got. The engine is going to have good quality internals so I might as well have the foundation right.
