I don't push my Cobra to the "limit" on the track. There are a couple of reasons for that.
1. What a heart breaker if I cracked it up.
2. I don't feel like the car is "that safe" if I cracked it up.
If I had a cup car I would still be concerned about number 1. But the worry over number 2 would go way down. I have considered a "race only" Cobra, roll cage, etc. but in my case it's just to complex having a "track only" car.

Re: Bill S
Point taken, but still a crappy way to advertise. Kind of like if someone who was also selling insurance made a remark about you, or your business (which I hear is top notch) practices, or used the way you do business in a negative way...........Step back and think about it. Didn't HDR have an issue like this a while back, do you think it hurt their credability here and elsewhere, yup, you bet it did. Just my further two cents worth. ...I'm done............No more stiring the pot on this one...............
Bill S.
PS: Disclaimer: the preceding remarks are my own, and not that of anyone else, nor any company, nor my ISP, nor my great grandparents. My own two cents worth and thats it.

As for the sales comparison, the seller has sold cars (7) to Cobra owner and is just making a legitimate comparison to a group that might not be aware of what you can get and how much fun you can have. If it brings in one more customer, then I guess it worked.

I don't know what you are talking about. Crappy way to advertise? The seller is repeating verbatim what customers have told him to spread the word. There is no knock to anyone's business practice that you seem to have tried to assimilate to my business for whatever reason other than a potential slurr.
There is no knock to the Cobra's just a reality check of what you get for the money. As Johan said he loves both but they are soo different. Not everyone has the money or ability to have both.
You talk about advertising but forget I advertised the trailer for a price with pictures a few months back that you are now advertising with the same pictures in the same place for $2000 more. I wouldn't call that good advertising practice either. You didn't even at least warn me.
Nothing more nothing less..

Cobra- one of the most beautiful cars ever build, that you can take on a track (with caution) or on a Sunday cruise through the countryside to see the leaves turn.
Nascar- a car that is basically fugly from any angle that you can only drive on a track (albeit with reckless abandon).
My $.02.

I don't disagree with your opinion. The Cobra was and is one of the most beautiful cars ever built. I too was never a lover of the looks of Cup Cars but after you drive one it all starts to look different and continues to get better every time you look because you can't duplicate the thrill.
PS..Now that I have one, I still do not follow Nascar. I never did. But, owning and driving one is just indescribable. I suggest you take one out for a ride and then let me know what you think. Forget the looks.
PPS. The resale value is also good because of the historic thing and if you get a drivers car that is either dead or one that everyone likes.

There are those that spend there lives stressing the details in order to one day get the key the the "Executive Crapper" and then there are those that strive to become the owner of the business..
Can I borrow your key?

While a rather unique approach of a comparision, it nonetheless does hit home to many Cobra owners who spend an easy 60K for a replica, bragg about how fast it is and are always are stuck explaining if it is real or fake. In cases common to Club Cobra, we have seen others get themselves killed on the street possibly along with some of their friends.
With the cup car, it is a real car with real history and from what I know, knowone has died in one lately in the historic events even after high speed wrecks.
I own one, it is a safe car. I have the full Nascar road race seat from Butler that costs over $1600 which is included in these cars.
Fast on the street for me had become meaningless because of too many speeding tickets and hearing of those dying in their cars. Let's face it. It's not safe to street race. On the track, you have the opportunity to live out speed to the fullest extent in a setting that is certainly a lot safer than the street.
-If you try it, you will be hooked forever and won't mind the trailer story.
|
Shill.....
You've got a real car with history....
You have a $1,600. seat....
You not stuck explaining if it's real or fake.
You're too smart to street race....
You get a lot of speeding tickets....
You don't mind trailering...
You're smarter than the average Cobra owner...
You have a car you can't drive....
Our hobby has become meaningless to you....
are you on the right forum?????

Steve,
My comments were not meant to inflame, my comments were my own opinion of this sellers sales tactics, and nothing more.
By the way, the question about whether you got the new engine yet was a sincere one. If you have the time in the morning on Saturday, why not stop up at the karn's garage in Montclair between 11am-2pm. We'll be sorting out my own semi broken motor on Bill's lift. Address is in the Club forum section if you want to use mapquest.
Sincerely,
Bill S.
