Headers appear to be for a small block of some kind (302/351W).

Look like 351W tubes. Looks like cool air port in fender. The pic is not all that good, but it loks like the two bolt Toploader mount in the tunnel.

What does this guy want for this mess?

$8000.00 max my guess. The interior will need attention as Karl said.

Ray, offer 4k and walk away. LOL

Just my $0.02

Well the car is being sold by and insurance company. They are taking the highest offer and the highest is already up to $6,000.

I just thought it looked like a good deal. If you guys don't think so I'll trust your opinions, since your the experts.

6K is ok, bump it to 6.5 ha ha

A lot of it depends on how bad YOU want the car and for what reasons. This is a great way to get yourself into an SPF at a very low price. An opportunity that seldom comes around.

But if you don't understand the significance of an SPF, it's just another car that may or may not be for you. I could see 10K+ if a guy really wanted the car.

Let's say he buys the car for $6000. Body work and paint and frame work and interior work....maybe $20,000, maybe less...Now he's in it for $26,000...still needs to buy an engine...new SPFs are $38,000...he may save $10,000, but be driving a repaired wreck. I am not sure I would go that route, IMHO. Now, my estimates were only WAY uneducated guesses; I dont know. Does a new Cobra driver need to be learning about Cobras in a repaired wreck, given the performance potential? Just asking...

would not this car also qualify as a 'SALVAGE VEHICLE' title in many states, making it one difficult mutha to sell again...once you have all those bucks into getting it right ! some high risk here, under 8 grand might be worth it..or make it into a track car...but seems to me it could cost more than you expect once you get into the car and any hidden broken or bent pieces. that body is pretty strong and it looks like it took a bad hit... if you said what type of car dealer you are i missed it...ie , a new car dealer with a good body shop experienced in fiberglass repairs, then you have a cost advantage vs joe shmoe public. same with engine purchase at wholesale. trans too. a frame straightener in the body shop ? yep, the right car dealer has a distinct and big cost advantage on this car vs someone paying retail to make it right. bill

That is the thing.. While I don't have a shop inhouse.. I do have really good connections.

I figure I can get all the body/paint work done for about $6,000.
I also get very reasonable mechanical work ..

I figured I could have it all done for under $20,000 completed.

It must be an SPF--after seeing the other photos, and the input from the others here--If you could get it back to SPF "roller specs" with engine and trans--for 20K total --Go for it--won't find another in that price range--

Have you located the SPF "data" plate?

ray,
From the perspective of another car dealer and a Cobra owner.

It is a SPF. They are worth a certain amount used, in the open market without an accident history. Backing up from that value, and allowing only $6000.00 for the corrective repairs, engine and tranny, I think you could go as high as $10,000 on the car.

Again it all depends on the severity of the accident, how much it really will cost to make it right 100% including the frame.

Only you can tell that, because you are the one looking at it. I am not.

I personally think you won't get it done for $6000.00

They are tough to paint. There are no break points on the body, you don't have the exact paint code, and you may end up shooting the entire car.

If the car is done perfect under $20,000 you got a good deal. At $25,000 it is an OK deal. Anything over that is too much.

You also have to remember that if the insurance company is selling it after a payout it is a "Salvage Title". Many insurance companies will not write a policy on it so you may want to look into that first. I kinda liked the idea of track car.. throws the other worries out the window.

Hmmmm,,,,,track car. You know if I could get that thing for 6 to 8K I"D BUY IT for a track car! Heck, I'd put some glass on it to hold the cracks closed, shoot it with a spray can of paint, drop in a used motor and have at it!!!

That would make a heck of a nice track car all right!

Thanks for your perspective Turk, and thanks to everyone. I think I'd feel comfortable going up to about 8k on it.

I'll probably need everyone's help once I get it to make sure I restore it "up to par" with how it should be restored.

Thanks Again for all your inputs. I'll post and let you guys know if I get it.

Just to let you guys know.. I bid $8,000 on the car..

It sold for $12,000..

I guess that was a dealer that thought it was a deal.

Maybe next time..
