carb problem

When I turn the switch on , chuckmy electric fuel pump starts and fuel immediatly starts to flood the carb.then when I crank it I get a lot of white smoke and unburned fuel from the pipes.Why would the gas pour into the carb venturies?Fuel is at right level in bowls,idle screws at 1.5 turns(Holley 750)

Do you have sights in your bowls?

either your bowl float is not closing the inlet valve ( too much fuel pressure from your electric pump and no regulator) or you have no plunger inside the accel.pump injector body and the engine is drawing gasoline from the pump injectors.

Sounds like a stuck float to me. Take the bowls off and clean them real good along with the float adjusting mechanism. Make sure the fuel level is where it is supposed to be. Change the fuel filter too. A tiny piece of whatever can glog things up pretty good.

First, as indicated, check the floats, blow out all the parts and re-adjust.

I was having a similar problem recently after installing a new billet fuel pressure regulator (Aeromotive?) Seems that the hole that was made for the pressure gauge had a burr that was never cleaned off. The burr came loose and jammed the ball in the regulator and I was pumping 15lbs of gas into the carb.

If fuel is visiably dumping out the boosters at idle, remove bowl screw and see where fuel level is, should just dribble out of the hole. Do this check with the fuel pump running. Has the carb been rebuilt or anything lately? A wrong metering block gasket can definately do this. So can a blown power valve. Blast the air bleeds with a squirt of carb cleaner. (air bleeds for idle circuit are next to where the boosters meets the main carb body, the two tiny holes on the outside of the pair, right on the top surface)
