I lurked around this site for months while I researched all I could on Cobras. Now that I'm getting serious about buying one, I joined in (Aug. 03). Easily the coolest community online. CC is now my homepage. Like everyone else, quickly becoming an addict. Have to credit the human Cobra reference source, Ron (Computerworks) for making this place so respectable, and Jamo and Turk for making it so disreputable!! And I mean that in the best way possible.

After dreaming of this car since 1975, I was looking to purchase a replica in 1998, and stumbled onto this site in March 1999. Very helpful site for information. I had considered it a toss up between a Contemporary, or an ERA. After learning about Shelby's re-creation......I made my purchase in July/99.

Special thanks to Brent and CC, Kit Car Magazine, and the Monterey Historics.....as the dream came true!

Not sure when I joined, but it was early enough to get one of the charter member shirts.

Let's see I have to make a post so I can look at my info and see! This is tough for me since as you can see by my post count I'm an infamous "lurker". I visit every day but seldom can contribute to the wisdom found here. Okay did I pile that on thick enough to avoid getting flamed??

About 7 months, most of which time I was not registered and just read and read and read. Now I am registered and read and read and read.... and recently post some too.

GEEEZZZ,

I THOUGHT IT WAS APRIL OR MAY OF 1999 BUT MY LEGEND SAYS APRIL 2000. DID THE DATES GET MIXED UP DURING THE ALIEN ABDUCTION OF OUR POST COUNTS ???

I DUNNO, I'M SO DARN OLD I CAN'T REMEMBER WHAT I HAD FOR LUNCH.

COBRA ED AND I WENT ON SEVERAL CRUISES TOGETHER IN OUR COBRAS AND ONE DAY HE E-MAILED ME WITH CLUB COBRAS WEB SITE INFO. (I'M SURE IT WAS APRIL OR MAY OF 1999). I'VE BEEN ADDICTED EVER SINCE.

CERTAINLY ONE OF THE BEST THINGS THAT EVER HAPPENED TO ME. I'VE MET SOME OF THE GREATEST GUYS IN THE WORLD (EVEN IF THEY ARE TOTALLY WHACKO) AND I LEARN MORE ABOUT COBRAS EVERYTIME I JUMP IN HERE.

IN FACT - WITHOUT CLUB COBRA - THE SPRING FLING WOULD NEVER HAVE TAKEN ON THE DIMENSION THAT IT HAS - AND WITHOUT THE DVSF THE GUYS UP HERE MIGHT NEVER HAVE GOTTEN TOGETHER TO FORM CACC. (THE CAPITAL AREA COBRA CLUB).

IT SEEMS THAT BRENT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MORE SINS THAN HE CAN EVER ATONE FOR. IN FACT - TALKING ABOUT BRENT - A LOT OF GUYS DRINK RAKI AT THE FLING (IT'S BECOME A TRADITION OF SORTS) BUT BRENT IS THE ONLY PERSON I'VE EVER MET THAT ACTUALLY "LIKES THE STUFF". WE HAD TO KEEP WRESTLING WITH HIM TO GET THE BOTTLES PASSED AROUND.

IF IT HADN'T BEEN FOR THE COBRA PEOPLE HANGING IN THERE WITH ME THE PAST TWO YEARS WOULD HAVE BEEN A WHOLE LOT TOUGHER.

THANKS - TO ALL OF YOU - AND,

Y'ALL HAVE A REALLY GREAT DAY,

BLACKJACK

May 2000, and it seems like forever. Some kind of websearch on CObras as I recall.

It was here on CC that this reputable and refined Englishman fell into the clutches of a bunch of guys who later coalesced into the Gasholes. Now I appear to be a disreputable and unrefined Englishman, shunned by my countrymen for my American skew on all things Cobra, and quite possibly the better for it.
I still strive to show you folks how to spell and punctuate the Queen's English as it was intended, but I fear it is a losing battle.

Any more hospitality like you guys have shown me at the last two 'flings and I might not go home next time. You have been warned.

Talking

I am one of the first 10 members, Jan 1999.

I remember talking to Brent on the phone a day or two after the site first came on line.
