Default GoodYear performance tyres in our sizes are here

Got the new Summit catalog yesterday. The have the new GoodYear Nascar tyres listed, in many Cobra (and Cheetah)sizes. Touted as performance tyres. 15" and some 16"s. Looks like a call is in order Monday

Thumbs up Hey Mr. Bruce! Good sleuthing!

...since I haven't ordered the 2004 Summit catalog yet...could you see if they have widths upwards of 305? Sometimes they give tires sizes in inch format, rather than the metric. If you could supply me with the width data for 15" rim-diameters, I'd appreciate it....looking for "foot widers"...

Freddie, I think these are the tires Mr. B is referring to:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Sizes....le+%231+NASCAR
Seems max width is 285 (in 16") and too bad about the "S" rating which is only good for 112mph sustained. Of course the opportunity for sustained 112+ mph speeds is limited and in our lightweight cars you can probably bump that up by a few rating points anyway. With the big white letters, they're real lookers, too.

Summit has a listing for a P295/50R-15 ,Eagle GT11,8-10" wide wheel, OD of 27", 12" tread width $99.95 each. No speed rating listed, but shouldn't really matter, if you obey the speed limit. If you're looking to go over 100mph at the track,, get some x-tra wheels and proper slicks.

Mr Bruce, your initial post was about the new "Nascar" Eagles not the GTll's which have been around for some time. Sorry if I forgot the mandatory disclaimer: DISCUSSION ABOUT THE SPEED RATING OF STREET TIRES WAS PURELY HYPOTHETICAL AND NOT INTENDED TO BE AN ENDORSEMENT OF STREET RACING!!!

Geez maybe we should have Brent or Ron add an automatic disclaimer to every go-d-m post so the lectures about racing vs. waxing and street vs. track won't be necessary in every bloody thread.

We are into COBRAS here which are hi-po vehicles whether you like it or not. We will talk about speed, horsepower and the relative performance of Cobras compared to other brands as we please and we will use our cars as we please. Keep your friggin obsessions to yourself - Chevrolet has been fitting Z-rated tires to Vettes for years. That's not a crime against the laws of open trackers - it's just a matter of having tires that match the performace potential of the cars. PERIOD.

Oh, I almost forgot - LOL LOL
