Default Street Version Air Splitter?

Does anyone know the height of the lip and of the chrome trim at the front of the air splitter? I have tried to scale it from some pictures, but would sure like to have an accurate dimension before I start to fabricate.

Thanks!

Thank You!

Now all I have to do is track down some 1/2" chrome trim. So far all I've found in the right profile is 3/8"

I finally struck a deal for painting, but now need to find the right color. I didn't know there were so many different shades of BRG available.

Been playing with the dashboard this past week and made a mock-up to check clearances(Pic in gallery). Maybe I should leave the length just as is. It would make fuse panel and ignition box access real easy!

Lot's of different views on this one. I talked with the folks at ERA since they show a car with a splitter on their website. Here is their advice :
The splitter is a simple aluninum "tray" horizontally positioned in the center of the oval rad opening fashioned fron 050 aluminum sheet with a 1/4" 90 deg lip formed at the forward edge. The splitter has a slight (5 to 10 deg) slope downward to the rad.
The chrome trim is ........ (insert drum roll) , the door trim from a 68 to 74 VW beetle. This is the polished aluminum accent strip that runs horizontally from the front edge of the door to the back edge of the door about 6" below the window.
It is 10mm or 1/4" and I bought mine at the local VW/Bug resto shop for $12.00 incl the little plastic clips that attach it.
Hope this helps.
Greg

You don't want 1/2" trim - you want the 3/8" - the whole thing kind of tapers.....

The measurements I took came off my ERA splitter.....and it doesn't need any mounting clips as it glued on.

3/8" would look great too. Same trim piece is also available for the pre 67 VW Bug and is 14mm or about 3/8".
If someone prefers 1/2", use the VW Bug running board trim . around '65 to '75 (don't have my catalogue handy). They come in 3 differentt widths including about 1/2".
