This Alfa is nice
I'd give thumbs up to the Jag E-type too, though I prefer the fastback Series 1.5's from 1967
Then there's the new Ford GT
The Viper gets a big vote from me, especially the new version.
I like the Pantera, they just seem to rust faster than e-type's though.
There've been a lot of cool cars over the years, can't have them all. Do agree with the question previously posted as to why there aren't more e-type kits seeing as they always seem to be at the top of everyone's lists.
I do like the repro Talbo immensely, just wish they could get it under Shelby CSX pricing

Rich, there was one on eBay for a "Buy it now" of $59K. Neat looking car... at first I did not know it was a replica. Auction over.

Porsche 904 Carrera GTS. Truely an original and ancestor of the whole line of 900 series race cars...906, 908, 910, 917, 956, 962.
Duane, $59K, down from $80K...ouch.

Time for a story
The Blue car below was the one that got away story. It is 1 of 5 Frua bodied 1951 Maserati A6G 2000 Roadsters. In 1983 I had the hots and about $14000 to buy a toy. My cousin called me from Florida and told me a client of his went bad on a $25,000 debt and he ended up with this fresh restored beauty. But, a 1951 car was not high performance by the way of what I was looking for and I didn't have 25K to spend. My cousin then made the deal sweeter. He said; give me $12,500 take the car, play with it until you get bored and then give me half of whatever you sell it for whenever you sell it. I pondered and then I found a gorgeous 1963 Corvette Sebring Silver "Original"(Evan, Can you hear me know) 340HP roadster for $12,500. Well, I bought the Corvette and played with it. Spent another 9K restoring it and sold it in the Hayday 80's for $28,000. I thought I did pretty good considering it was my first classic car. Well my cousin had a hard time getting the Maserati sold but finally did in 1984 for the $25k. Then the explosion of the late 80's happened and cars went nuts. The Maserati re-sold right at an auction for around $450,000!!! Yes 450 big ones. Talk about the money for a real Comp Car Cobra???Please I wanted to die... The car now trades in the 300's and will always be one of 5 made and now from what I hear only 1 of 3 known to exist...Talk about hind sight
*****I will try again to load photo. I can't seem to.....

Made in Colorado if memory serves me right!
While at Georgetown U I drove one of these! An AMERICAN original that is RARELY ever mentioned anywhere. Wait,,,,, after driving one for a summer, I can understand why.
A Bricklin! Built to be the worlds safest "sports" car. The "Rambler" engine helped out in that regard.

BTW, The Ferrari 365GTB Daytona had the highest production run of any Ferrari.
There were 1,308 Daytonas produced, 122 of which were Spyders. The Daytona was the highest production until the Dino 246GT, 308GTS and all other subsequent Ferrari including the Testarossa 7,177 produced and 328GTS 6,068 and even the F40 at 1,311 overshadowed it.
BTW Ferrari 166MM, 250LM, 250GTO, Aston DBR-1,2 and teh Chaparral were all purpose built race cars and not sports cars as this thread called for so they shouldn't count.

I found that Barchetta 3500 builder's site some time ago
He builds them one at a time by hand of course. They look very authentic. That Talbot sure would be fun too.. as far as the price drop, most any replica does take a good hit after the sale, and maybe the fact that almost no one knows what a Barchetta 3500 is, has it's impact. Supply and demand.
Although that's the reserve price, it could go higher.
The only thing I did not like about the Talbot , aside from the too-high-price, was the way too much weight (2950+) combined with the wimpy motor (I assume one could boost that safely) and the modern bucket seats. They really look out of place in this car. It's just too much of a time jump, technology wise.

Excaliber:
The Bricklin-- part American, part Canadian. What a joke. 175 hp Windsor, 3,500 pounds, 12-14 mpg. 0-60 times must have been measured in "days". Almost $10,000 in '74. You could have purchased two 240Z cars for that.
Based on those stats, I'm sure Las Vegas was taking odds on how quick this company would go Chapter 7. Took about three years. The good news? If you like them, they can be had pretty cheap, and given that the parts can be sourced through GM, Ford, & AMC, repairing one is not much of a problem.
They do, however, have a song. Doesn't possess the the pizzazz of "Hey, Little Cobra"........but...............

Must have been a Ford motor, don't know why I remember it being an AMC motor! Must have been the misc parts I had to replace that were AMC products, (not to mention the "haze" of a wild summer). I met my future wife while driving that car, some fond memories there (the wife, not the car). LOL
