Car Transporters
I need some advice on car transport companies. I did call Rich, who is here on CC but he admitted that he couldn't really do what I required.
I have to move a '66 Mustang from southern California to up-state New York. I have requested a couple of quotes but the prices are quite different. M&R Trucking quoted $800 while National Auto Transport quoted $1145. M&R's quote is obviously a lot lower but NAT appears to be very professional.
Anybody know either of these two companies or can anyone recommend another car carrier that is going to do a good job for a reasonable price. While I don't want to throw money away, I want to get the car delivered in one piece. I believe that you get what you pay for, I just don't want to spend more than necessary.

I used Rich in Jan for my 57 Bird transport from Denver to Detroit. However, RELIABLE is an outfit that a couple of neighbors have used for their annual Detroit to Florida and back winter/summer shipping of their cars. Door to door service , no problems in several years of repeat hauling 2x per year. The Detroit auto mfrs' also use Reliable for show cars. I have no idea re their pricing vs others, but sometimes ya gotta pay to get good service for these toys. There are many listed in Hemmings, but I found that referrals are best for this type of service...for peace of mind and safekeeping of the toy. Bill.

Bill I didn't ask if it was open or closed. NAT does state that all tolls, taxes, insurance, etc etc is included in the rate. M&R simply gave me the quote indicating insurance is included.
I went to www.movecars.com where there are hundreds of car transport companies listed. I picked out a couple that are LA based since this is where the car has to be picked up. I will let you know how I make out. I bought the car on eBay and just received the title and transfer document so I am now ready to move it.
Regards,
Wayne

I have used intercity with great success. They are all enclosed, the rigs are like show pieces, very professional, prices are competitive with the others.
