Had mine a trailer today to take it for a VIN# assignment.
Must had gotten at least 12 horn-honks/thumbs up from other cars. Two guys on a porch yelled and asked if it was an old corvette. Two other guys at the gas station wanted me to fire it up and rev it - and I did :) Some chick ran up and asked if it was an original cobra. I told her replica - she said it looked amazing. Another week or two and I should have my plates/insurances/etc/etc. Can't wait! |
So, just got the Cobra a few weeks ago. Pretty rough - PO started it using Lonestar factory guy help, lost interest. Never painted it, no interior, barely hooked up the gauges, windscreen loose, fiberglass clashes, etc. Perfect for me and the kids to fix on!
Was rolling through the neighborhood in 3rd to keep it low, and this old, bent over man stopped on the sidewalk, looked right at me, threw down a big smile and thumbs up. He must have been my age when the originals came out. Live while you can, fellas, these are our glory days. :) Peace out, Jack |
Three of us out driving last weekend, two roadsters and a Daytona coupe. We stopped in for dinner at a resturant that shares it's parking lot with a large gas station. We lucked into 3 parking spots right in front of the windows and then scored a table inside with a view of the cars.
Because of the high volume of the gas station there was a constant flow of admirers and although we tried to avoid it, we got stuck in a couple of group photos. Always lots of fun cruising these cars. :) |
Pretty good video here of some gashole's FF Coupe kicking the crap out of a camaro and a challenger. Gets a lot of exosure in the video considering "Quality Chevrolet" is sprawled across the bottom of the whole video! LOL

I resemble that remark. :p |
Coming back from a meet in N. Las Vegas stopped at the local casino for a Steak n Shake. Had the car parked out front and when I came out 3 women were looking at the car and taking pic's. One says her husband has a corvette, I ask her if she would like to hop in and have her friends take a pic. Now don't read anything into this I have steak at home and not looking for hamburger.
I love the smiles from people when they get to set in the car and have someone take their picture. It's all perception and makes them feel great... Me too. Rich |

Free lunch
I have a friend ( actually , I have 2 friends) at one of the cruises who offered to buy me lunch, if I would bring the coupe over to show to some of his co-workers. The co-workers really fawned over it.
Lunch was good! Life is good ! The Nut |

I'd just bought my Superformance and was trailering it home on a four-lane boulevard trough some town or another. As I'm sitting in line at the traffic light waiting for it to turn green, a young black guy in a black Escalade pulls up next to me and stops well short of the light. He puts down his passenger window and is waving frantically for me to put down my window. I do, and he yells. "What kind of car is that?"
What the hell do you say to that question with 10 seconds before the light changes. "Cobra," I yell back. He hollers, "Who makes it?" What the hell do I say that he'll understand? "Ford...Shelby," I reply. "I thought so," he shouts. "My buddy was telling me about those. I followed you for five miles past my turn just to catch up to you!" The light turns and he makes a U-turn, snapping pictures out the driver’s window with his cell phone. |
As I drive down the street I to leave my neighborhood, a kid runs out into the street waving. I slow down enough to hear what he is saying: "Hey, can I get a ride to town?". I was kinda of a jerk and was a little annoyed and just sped away....I'm not used to the celebrity status of my Cobra....

Cobra
I went to the store right down the street to get some cigarettes in my SPF an when I came out a black guy came up on a bicycle as I was getting in the Cobra, he said you must be a millionaire an also said that it was the nicest car he had ever seen, I told him I was not a millionaire an laughed. I then had to asked him to give me a push because my starter failed to engage. lolhttp://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...dc29528093.jpg

Just one more comment regarding recognition.
I love when your at car show or on the road parked, and a small gathering of old intelligent looking guys spend several minutes inspecting the car. Best part is when their discussion is..is this an original cobra or a replica? Hmmmm! I smile and enjoy their comments. ::) |

I was trailering my new Superformance Cobra to the DOT, stopped at a gas station out in the boondocks. All the other refuelers gathered around, and one middle aged gentleman stared at it for awhile, then asked if he could touch it as he had never seen a real one in person. He gently reached out and touched the rear tire and grinned from ear to ear. One of the other guys walked over from his old pickup and said it was the nicest old Corvette he had ever seen.

I took BDR 687 to a show last weekend and after leaving the wifey and I stopped at Hooters before the drive back home. I have a great wife so while she is inside getting a place to sit; I’m moving the car to where I can see it whilst eating. She mentioned what we were doing to the waitress, so after I was seated the waitress wanted to know which car was ours. When I pointed out the Cobra she seemed genuinely impressed, as though she’d seen a thousand crappy cars and finally got to see something cool. When we were done eating I asked if she or any of the girls would care to let me snap a couple of pics of them with the Cobra to which she replied a very enthusiastic “Sure!” So the wife and I head out and a couple of minutes later half the waitresses on duty showed up outside. As they were walking out the only one who knew which car was ours was our waitress (the redhead in the pics) and a large truck was blocking their view until they were right up to the car. Before they saw the Cobra you could tell from their voices and mannerisms that the others weren’t too excited, it just seemed like something to do. That changed radically when they realized which car they were going to. All sorts of girl chittering started with several of them wanting pics taken with their own cell phones. Really, I took more photos with the girls cells than I did with my own camera, the results of which are below. Damn I dig this car!
