Well Guys, it was always my dream to take my car to Florida and make the ultimate drive to South Beach/ Key West. Two weeks ago, I trailered my car to Boynton Beach to have a soft top installed. The day after I took the opportunity to drive my car down to South Beach with all those expensive cars parked along the Beach main road around. After a long Lunch I took the drive I headed to South beach. When I came down that street slowly, every man, women and child stood still and gave me the thumbs up. Incredible that there were Ferraris, Bentleys and a Lamborghini parked, however the Cobra took the show for the period in which it took me to drive down the street.
I WAS THE BADDEST MAN IN TOWN FOR THAT MOMENT. Cobras way more attractive and get much more respect.
It also was the second hottest day of my life; however who cares when you are the main attraction at the moment. My woman is still pissed for having her in a hot car, however, one day she will learn to forgive or forget....
Never got to Key West, but South Beach was just as rewarding. Will have to find a cooler month for Key West..

I was at a Show & Shine yesterday. There were, quite literally, hundreds of cars - I was #299 and there were quite a few that rolled in after me. Lots of hot rods, street rods, rat rods, classic / restored cars, sport compacts, a couple of Lamborghinis, three Ferraris and a Pantera. From what I could tell the Cobra attracted as many or more people than almost everything there.
When it ended there were a couple of guys who hung around to talk, one of whom also had a car there. I expected him as I had worked with his wife and she said he wanted to come by and see the Cobra. Long, good chat. When he was done another guy wanted to talk - much shorter conversation but when I went to leave he was at the exit with his smartphone, shooting a video of me starting up, turning around, exiting the lot and driving down the street.

I would want to believe that these cars are seen very frequently in the Miami area, but in that area I received more thumbs up than anywhere else.
One guys stop next to me on the street and said, IT IS AN HONOR TO LOOK AT THIS CAR.... I could swear that a space ship would have attracted less attention than the Cobra in South Beach.....

Got my sorta barn find home the other day and was hosing off the years of dirt in the driveway. Al, the Korean War Vet, from down the street walked down to take a look. I apologized in advance telling him she's gonna be pretty loud when I get her running because of the side pipes. He said "hell son don't worry about it. It will sound like America. I have no problem with that." He shook my hand and walked back up the street with a big smile on his face. God Bless America!

I was running errands on Saturday and parked the Cobra in a remote corner of a store's parking lot. When I returned to the car there was a note on the seat which read:
"Your car is one of a kind and I would love to know more about it! If you could please contact me and allow me to get a better understanding of your work of art car, that would be great."
I phoned the number on the paper and the voice on the phone sounded like a very excited teenager. I probably spent 20 minutes on the phone with him, answering his questions.
Who knows, maybe he'll be a member on CC some day and get one of his own!

I stopped at a convenience store the other day. When I came out of the store and approached my MKIII, a gentleman asked me if that is one of those new Ford GT's.

As a new owner, i'm still getting used to the pictures taken when i'm in the 7-11 or the walk arounds, etc.. But I was at a hardware store last weekend and there were 2 guys looking at my car when i came out. One asked "is that real?", i answered the only way that was accurate.... "YUP". Ha!

Last Summer I parked away from all the cars by a Staples and as I was getting into my car a man came over who use to have a BD and while we were talking another man drove up in a new Porsche 911. He said I will trade you cars, I said no, he said how bout I go and get another one of these and trade you two for your one. I just smiled and he said "I did not think you would". Obviously he thought mine was an original.

On a recent sunny day, wife and I drove to CAT scales at local truck stop. Suddenly heard yelping and cheering. Big truck tire rack next to us, through one of the top tires, 10 feet up, we see a guy leaning through the tire, dangling from his truck cab, shooting a photo with one hand like a paparazzi. He was shaking with joy, then came down and took many photos. We noticed an interested group of onlookers assembling. Parked the car and talked to the good folks at the pay counter for a bit. Came out and talked with several truck drivers about the car. Very friendly and interesting. One had a Ford T-Bucket, and planned the fabrication of a Cobra front grill from his truck’s grill. Another had sold distributors, pegged ours, and we talked about the merits of EFI/stack and carb. We had a great time talking to all these folks. As we rumbled out, friendly paparazzi guy was still running after us shooting photos!

Just posted, yet have a couple more to share. Only 300 miles to date, but notable onlooker experiences each time out…
Slowly turned onto a side street, rumbling into first. Fifty yards down a Vietnam veteran turned to look, then stood roadside, rigid, arm fully extended with thumbs up until we passed. A fixed straight gaze at full attention, showing reverence for America and the AC Cobra. I smiled, nodded, and gave him the thumbs up. Yet he never faltered his straight gaze. It was awesome and inspiring!
Today drove son to high school dance in Cobra. Upon opening the garage, several walkers came to see and talk. Then one guy rode up on his bike and asked to look. He’s a car enthusiast as well, lives just down the street. We’ve both lived here forever, never would have met him if not for the Cobra. He has a friend locally about to take delivery on a 50th Anniversary Edition, similar colors to my silver combo, yet no paint involved, just real shiny metal!

I had just parked my BDR Cobra at the tennis/golf country club. While walking to the tennis shop, a woman ask me if that was a real golf cart. My immediate response was, "YEP, its the loudest golf cart in the club".

What gets me is how people respond to the Cobra. Two women were walking their dogs past my house, and they said, "We love your cars." - to me. My wife has a 2013 Boxster, and they were clearly not talking to her. I have a Cobra and a Pantera, and I had both garage doors open.
It's funny to have people react positively towards my cars, and they barely notice my her car. The only recognition I've ever received in her car is the 1 finger salute.

Last summer, I took a spin to the local produce truck to pick up a couple ears of corn for dinner. As I approached my car I saw an excite woman taking pictures and dancing around the car. She knew exactly what I was driving and said her husband would be so jealous. I asked if she would like to get in and sit behind the wheel as I take a picture of her in the car, without hesitation she jumped right in. I really think I made her day, she was so happy......

OUCH!
This is how I returned a brand new rented Mustang to Hertz a few years ago after hitting a BIG buck that jumped over the center divider and right in front of me. Scared the total Sh#t out of me!
The Mustang had less than 300 miles on it. I had to get out on passenger side when I returned it. I tried to say (jokingly) "hey, it was like that when I got it!". Fortunately I had a pass to drive the car from the CHP who made me help him drag the dead deer to the side of the road. Showed that to Hertz and they said "no problem, happens all the time" and I was on my way.
Not exactly being noticed in a Cobra, but sure got a lot of notice at the Hertz with all the blood and fur on it!

Recognition of a different type…cool story.
Couple years ago, was filling up at a local gas station. A Mercedes pulled up to next pump over and out of the corner of my eye, I saw an elderly lady get out. After a while, I heard her say that her husband had one of those cars a long time ago. Skeptical, I mumbled something like, “that’s nice” and kept staring down at my gas tank nozzle. After another long pause, she said that he used to race it. Figuring I was getting fed a line, I just smiled, said, “uh huh”, and kept waiting for my tank to fill so I could get moving.
After more silence, I hung up the pump, and looked over to her for the first time. We made eye contact as she climbed into her car. She flashed a friendly smile, said his name was Bob Bondurant, closed the door and drove away.
Lost opportunity….

Bob's current wife? I'd hardly describe her as elderly.
