Default Need help from SPF owners!!!

Does anybody know what the cut-off numbers (SPF car number)are on the following upgrades?:
WAW's - Trigo's
Windshield support Rod
Drop down Fuse Box
AVO's to Bilsteins
Dropped floor
Ventilated footboxes
Wilwood Brakes
Chrome to Stainless rollbar

I have an idea on some of them (but not exact numbers), but totally lost on the Trigo / WAW rims and the Dropped fuse box. -Thanks, I appreciate any help!!

Apparently, not all those changes I listed happened at the same time. I remember looking at a car last year that was in the upper 700's and it had the AVO shocks, and I don't think it had the dropped floor (or any of the other's listed above). Then, I looked at a car in the low 1000's (around 1050) and it DID have Bilsteins, Wilwood brakes, dropped floor, and the ventilated footboxes, .....but I'm not sure on the rims, and I know it DIDN'T have the Rod in the windshield.

SPF #770 came with Trigos, dropped footwell, ventilated footboxes, Wilwood brakes, AVO's... Did not come with drop down fuse box, nor windshield support rod.

Brian: Nah....still lookin. That's why I'm trying to get an idea on what numbered cars to look for while shopping. There ARE a couple that I've looked at recently (one out in your neck of the woods!) that are under consideration. -I didn't say anything to you about the one in Ohio because I knew I would just get a tongue-lashing about it being a SB!
I would love to buy our buddy Dave's car, but it's a little out of my price range (set by the wife, unfortunately). I told him if he doesn't sell it to let me know before he trades it in. I could probably scrape together more than the trade-in price (if I can hide it from my wife!).
I've also been calling our Sec. of States office, the DMV, and the EPA office here in Chicago to try and find out what the latest laws are for getting a smog exemption. What a pain in the a$$! Most people that work at these facilities don't have a CLUE to what the current laws are, and what I need to do (our tax dollars at work!). Some cars are titled as 1965's while others are titled by the year the chassis was built. There are different laws here for each, depending on what the title says. Fun!
To be honest, I'm sorta considering the new Shelby roller as well. However, I'm not the type to fork over money before seeing the product up close, so I guess I'll have to wait (which is fine because I would have to save up some more money for one of those anyway). I want to see one that's been purchased by someone......NOT a proto-type that's been put together with a fine tooth comb for people to get excited about and place their orders off of!

FlyinFreddie: Thanks! That does help some! Did you change your AVO's to the Bilsteins? Did you notice a difference??

Yes....and Yes.

I swapped the standard AVO adjustable coil overs that came on #770 for the Olthoff designed Bilstein coil overs. These are NOT the same Bilsteins that come as standard fitment from the SPF factory, but have been designed by Bob and Dennis Olthoff especially to meet their standard. They are truly a work of art...very nicely finished, firm, but not harsh. They just add a whole new 'buttoned-down' feeling to the car. It's very much different from the standard AVO's #770 came with, and very much better.

I cannot compare my shocks/coil overs to the standard Bilsteins from the factory...and I know of no one who has made the Bilstein to Bilstein swap, but several who made the AVO to Olthoff-designed Bilsteins swap. All of them report pretty much the same results....it's a good, worthwhile improvement.

Also....for what it's worth, my #770 SPF is what's referred to as a 'series 3' car. Series 3 cars came with dropped footwells, Wilwoods, Trigos, and polished stainless rollbars.

Oh, and sorry about the Focaccia Bread Recipe....it was meant for another Terry who owns an SPF!

..............also, I've seen some SPF's with a push button starter. Is that a SPF option, or is it something the owner does later??

FYI my car # 940 came with the AVO's. Horrible shocks and I switched them out for the Olthoff racing Bilsteins. Amazing difference. The earlier cars came with Trigo's. The 900 and up cars have the WAW's. My car is for sale

Cool Starter button...

I had the dealer install a push-button starter in series with the ignition switch. It's not standard, but an extra that just differentiates mine from some others. You've got to have the key in the switch and the ignition on before the starter button works. I think most of the dealers can install one for you...cost was about $50, if I recall correctly. I'd like to replace the button with a spring-loaded toggle switch and orange aircraft switch cover...but, alas, the hole drilled for the push button is larger than the toggle switch body and I still haven't figured out a way to make the toggle switch fit without drilling another hole....which I DON'T want to do. I've got both the srping loaded toggle switch and the orange cover, but still haven't figured out how to install it using the original hole for the starter button. It's obviously not THAT important to me, huh?

Flyin: I HAVE seen the toggle w/ the cover (red) on a car before (Nice!), so there HAS to be a way to do it. I don't think this guy drilled another hole, either.
When you opt for the push button starter, is there an "extra" hole drilled for it from the factory, or does it take the place of something else?

agro1: Thanks! That does help (I printed it out!). Doesn't give the specific SPF #'s (I don't know if ANYBODY knows), but giving the apx. year helps out. Thank you!
P.S. Saw your car (Nice!). Did you have to change the spinners on your WAW's?

Use the hole for the windshield washer pump button. That is often where I would put the Halon handle on cusromer's cars. Nobody uses the windshield washer pump anyway, well you shouldn't have to.

The changes listed happened over a period of time, I haven't touched a SPF in two years, so I don;t know whayt other changes have happened, but here's ashort list off the top of my head:
Wheels: from steel with phony hubcaps, to trigo's, to SPF trigo clones
Brakes: changed to willwood calipers from ford calipers, same rotors. E-brake changed to willwood spot calipers too, and some mechanical advantage was tremoved from the pull cable assembly by removing a pivoting rod, to gain more travel.
They dropped the floor about 2" on the drivers dside.
Drop down fuse panel
Rollbars in chrome instead of black powdercoating.
Motor mount pedestals changed very early
rear diff mounts reinforced
changed ground wire location by the battery box
smaller gauge battery cables
changed the radiator fans

not sure what else, gotta go to a meeting now

623 Has dropped footbox, Wilwoods, Trigos. You have to check each car out. There is no exact time frame for each change.

I really think I might upgrade to the Olthoff shocks and the better emergency brake system...Oh, and maybe the thicker Olthoff swaybar. And thats it.

Whats a windshield support bar?

Terry ~ I never thought about Dave's car.......now thats a great car!!!! Probably hold its value with the SO engine compared to other engines. Plus we both know the COMPLETE history of the car and that he has taken care of it. Man, if I had a few extra bucks laying around, I'd buy it myself.

Freddie, i took out my windscreen washer tank and button, it got hot and leaked out the nozzle, dribbling on the hood anyway. I got the aircraft momentary-0n toggle switch with the flip up aircraft cover, i just put it in the hole, ran the green wire from the starter to it, then to the solenoid. So on with the key, flip up the cover, hold the spring loaded metal toggle up to spin the starter, and let it go when it fires, i usually then flip down the cover. In the past, i have neglegently turned the key on a running motor, this fixes that mental lapse. The switch fit fine in the push button hole.

Terry,

Drew's car that he sold earlier this year # 1470, had all those options. My new car # 1543 also has them but my old car # 924 did not have the windshield center support or the drop down fuse panel which is really nice.

1049 from Bob and Dennis Olthoff was one of the first they delivered with the Bilsteins ,also had the drop down fuse panel,SPF made wheels as well as the other mods except for the windshield support.

Thanks for everyones help so far. I'm writing all these SPF#'s down along with their options so I get an idea when they improved upon the cars! *Is there a "print friendly" option for these threads??

BlueRooster: They started putting a rod down the middle on the windshield (frame to frame) sometime in 2002 to make changing the windshield easier and less costly. The earliest car that I know of that has it is #1245. That's only because I know the guy and he told me his car was one of the first to recieve it. That was a nice time to buy a SPF (1200) because he has all the new options (except the new parking brake) and he also has the Cobra badges, and the Cobra SPF floor matts that you can no longer buy due to the lawsuit. I'm not sure if he has the Cobra VIN plate though (that was done away with as well).

Brian: Dave's car IS sweet. I love that color combo and the SO engine! I'm not too crazy about having to adjust the valves every couple thousand miles though.........Damn radical cam!

Hal: where do you get those aircraft toggle switches? Those are awsome! Good idea on the washer pump button as well. Who needs THAT?!

gsharapa: I know, Drew's car had EVERYTHING I wanted. I talked to Drew about his car when he was selling. The only worry I had was the color. I thought it looked a little "purple" in certain light......but I should have flown down and looked at it myself. That was a sweet ride, and I should have pulled the trigger on that one! Heck of an engine too. -How do you like your Craft 427? Got some HP/TQ figures??
So, #923 didn't have the fuse box or windshield rod, but your car #1543 does. Does your new car have the new parking brake as well?? I Don't know when THAT started either!

Snakeyes: 1049 has the Bilsteins (not the Olthoff Bilsteins -right?) and the WAW's and the drop down fuse panel?? I think we just found a number change here!!!! -Because I looked at car #1048 and it has the Bilsteins, but it also HAS Trigo's and DOESN'T have the drop fuse box!! So, #1049 must be where they made the change on at least 2 of the items in question (fuse box and rims!)! Thanks! ....I heard that the first 300-400 cars fitted with the WAW rims had problems with the cast spinners breaking (too soft). If the original car owner didn't have them replaced (I guess Superformance was replacing them w/ Forged spinners under warranty), would that warranty still apply to a 2nd owner as well, or was there a time limit where they had to be changed? I know those forged spinners aren't cheap!

#1049 does not have the olthoff bilsteins,does have the drop down fuse panel,does not have Trigos

since i have not had the wheels off yet I can't comment on the fragility of the original spinner,but plan to take the wheels off this fall and may be replacing them if i end up with pieces of spinner on my garage floor!!

was there a general recall/replacement of the original spinner?
if there was i never received notice of such
