Thumbs down CHP says too hot for Willow Springs race weekend.

Well Folks,

All loaded up and on the way to the Willow Springs COCOA event this AM.

Got a brand new JBL with fresh Hoosiers and a hankering to run a few laps to close out the year.

What happens?

Just before we get to State Highway 133, The CHP closes 15. Says there is no way they are going to let us through unless we have a fire truck hidden in the trailer.

Bummer.

The smoke was so bad that we could not see 150 yards in front of us.

Had to turn around and come home.

The Butcher lives in the area of the fire. I have tried calling, but no answer. Hope he, the wife, and all the dogs are OK.

Curt Scott also lives in one of the bad fire areas. I hope he is okay.

Sorry to miss the track weekend, but it is not a big deal compared to what the folks living in the fire areas are going through.

The real bummer is that all of these fires are arsons.

Default NOT TOO HOT FOR CHUCK MILLER!

Richard,

Highway 14 was clear and I ran into Chuck Miller at Willow with his reborn JBL.

Head west tomorrow and come up the 405 to the 14. No fires.

(Curt Scott lives just off the 14 and I saw absolutely no fire or smoke in the area.)

See my gallery for photo of Chuck's car.

Default Anyone heard from the Butcher?

I've just seen some news footage of those terrible California fires, and Richard JBL mentioned that the Butcher lives within the fire damaged areas.

Has anyone had a chance to speak with Andy to make sure that everything's OK? Destructive fires are not a subject that I want to be reading about on www.cobralads.com .....
