I heard the Listers used a very thin fiber glass body and were particularly noted for "extreme" light weight.
The early Cobras were 800-900 pounds lighter than their primary competiton, Corvettes of that time. In racing, weight is EVERYTHING, even a few pounds makes a difference!

Chuck Beck's personal car--the one that did pretty well at the Run n' Gun a year or two ago--has a body so thin you can practically see through it. I've heard that car weighs somewhere around 1,700 pounds. My car, and I would think most of the "regular production" Listers, has significantly thicker bodywork. Now that production is being handled by Avanti I wonder where the current crop of kits will scale...maybe one of the magazines will test one--

According to this original 1964 Shelby American specifications and price sheet I've managed to hang on to all these years, real 289 Cobra's in street trim have a curb weight of 2170 Lbs. on steel 72 spoke wire wheels. By the time they added gas, oil, water, front & rear chrome bumpers, spare tire, jack, tool kit, wind wings, sun visors, Smith Heater (it leaked all the time) and soft top, bows and side curtians, Shelby says that added another 370lbs. making the car weigh 2540Lbs. as delivered for $5995.00

Sorry,
You need to put your f@t ass in the car and then weigh it, don't know of any remote controlled cobra's.
Race cars will benefit with weight reduction to a point, they would be better working on the balance , tracking and braking.
Then there's the' gray matter 'behind the wheel, a good trained driver will usually go 'much' faster than your cobra on a diet.
Street cobra's won't know the difference 100 lbs either way.
