Replica or not. Metal of fiberglass. As long as its safe and the fit and finish is good and goes faster than my "daily driver" I'll take any good "kit car" vs. driving the same "ticky-tacky boxes all on the highway" like every Joe Public (like me) drives. Everybody wants to turn heads and get attention. We build Unique Motorcar Cobra replicars. But I have seen plenty of FFR's and A/C's that looked even better than some of the most expensive that were put together without eye for detail.

a few absolute giveaways between $25K - $50K cars is:
- ride stance (straight axle vs. IRS)
- rake of windshield
- shape of flares

All,
I don't know which Cobra to drive-- the real one or the replica --- sometimes, I have a problem getting my corvettes, (I have 3, 1967, 427's that are in show room condition) out of the way because they are parked behind the three 32 "steel" bodied roadsters that I have. Each one is powered by blown 427 side oiler NASCAR engines, I've got $20,000 in each engine and I'm still not done.
I would think that I should have plenty of room in my new, state of the art, 16,000 ft. garage. I had the garage built, with a flat roof, so I can land my new helicopter on it. However, on sunny days, I park my new Kirkham next to the CSX on the roof. I'm thinking about having the garage doors chromed, what do you think? Each door opener is a small block 327 "Chevy" bored out to 60 over with duel quads.
Oh well, I think I'm going to close because, I'm going to take my 429 Boss Mustang (original 6000 mi car) down to the boat house and go out fishing. They just delivered my new "58" foot Boston Whaler powered by twin 800 hp Vipers and I want to try it out. Bill Gates was going to meet me but I told him I had a full load.
Believe me guys, it's not what you have in life, the important thing is being humble and to recognize we are all the basicly the same.
I never gave a damn about materilistic stuff and I'm not going to start now.
Albert Bell.

I Agree (I Think)
Al (Mike):
I know what you're saying and happen to agree. But, different people have different philosophies in life. For some, material possessions don't matter much. Others, they have great pride in their achievements, whether materialistic, scholastic, professional, religious, or family. Who am I to judge their values?
I am at a point in my life where I need an incentive to keep working (I am retired, but too young to sit back and do nothing). The house is basically paid for, the kids' education is not an issue, and as my tagline indicates, I'm not one who takes great joy from a big bank account. But, I really do need the daily challenge of doing a job well (a hold over from my state trooper days).
So, I find material items that my wife and I can enjoy and work to pay for them. They're simply an incentive. I also support various charities that I feel are worthwhile. At some point, I'm sure this will change, but for now, I'm happier than ever before.
Bottom line: If I'm not going to tell others what their car should be, I'm not about to tell them what should be important in their personal lives.
Sometimes, searching these posts for a deeper meaning is like looking for a pig in a mosque. Ya' just ain't gonna find it.
It's all just for fun!
I think we can be fairly accused of hijacking this thread, I'm outta' here.
Best wishes to all,

I think that sums it up.
By the way. I don't think Evan looks down his nose at all at replicas.

Evan, Evan, Evan,
I was not putting you down personally--get a grip, dude.
I know you've never come right out and said good or bad about another members make, only "Shelby's are real". But all in all there are many in here that put down in someway some other a guys car because it is not "correct"(original). re-read my post.
BTW I could afford a Shelby--I don't want one, or a Kirkham, or another SPF, seriously looked at buying one of the new coupes, but couldn't really justify it---I bought a glass NAF 289 for 16K--and you know what I have a grand ol' time with it--I'm not near as fearful of driving it as I was the SPF, maybe it's the cost factor, I don't know. But I am not making a pretentious statement with this car either---look at it and any Cobra guy will find a list of faults a mile long.
But I could care less--it isn't real--it's a hot rod with a Cobra body
So chew on that--you drive your Shelby, I'll drive my NAF---and to the average Joe---we both have " A COBRA "
