Fastening Aluminum body to FFR
I'm wondering about buying one of the Kirkham aluminum bodies on eBay or from Kirkham and mating it to an FFR frame. My thought is I could have an aluminum body Cobra with round-tube chassis finished for around $30-35k, with a mild 427 center oiler. Hot Dog! Does anyone have recommendations on the best way to secure the body to the frame so it does not shake or rattle? Thanks. Hodgey.

You need to contact FFR.. they have already tried it... Last I heard someone in Fla. wound up with it....

My dad fabricates the CSXXXX series frame for less than a FFR that will have to be highly modified to accept the CSX body cage. The suspension uses the CSX3XXX Comp/Feinstein geometry and poly joint a-arms, not FOX based items. However I've seen FFR MKI frames for as little as $600, if you landed one at that price range you would have the cost advantage however. jeff COBRA351@ev1.net |

There was a guy on the FF forum (ACE) who tried to do this. He purchased the aluminum body and found out there was a TON of fab work needed to adapt the body to the FFR frame. He ended up selling the Kirkham body and using the FFR. BTW the FFR aluminum roadster I heard looked funny as they could not get the body to seat well with the frame. And I think FFR gave up (for now) on the aluminum body option. G.

There is an aluminum body on an FFR chassis in the latest Factory Five DVD that's out now. Not sure what the body is, but they were setting it on the FFR in the video.

I am ACE and I did buy the Kirkham body with upper frame already attached. I did end up selling the body to someone that is using it with a FFR frame. I wanted it to have the correct mounting points, so I bought some 1965 AC Cobra Frame Blue prints to make sure it was done correctly. BTW the Blue prints are for sale $190.00. If you ever see the FFR aluminum body on there frame you will see that they cut the body to fit the frame. The sides are not flat on the Kirkham and they are on the FFR at the mounting points. If my frame wasn't already powder coated and the car wasn't already together and I could have done the work myself I might have went through with it. The Kirkham Body and Frame already mounted was around 20k and the guy that I was going to have do the work wanted 21k to mount the body and make the extra frame to body mounting points with a paint job. I would have had 60K in my car:CRY: If I was to do it again I would just buy a Kirkham.
