Question Tried to delete and couldn't

Ron (CW) or Brent,

What is going on with my post count all of a sudden this morning? I just happened to notice that when I go back to an earlier post they have all been updated to whatever the last post cout is. I don't remembe rthis happening before and I have logged off, cleaned all cookies and files, and the cache. I think this will be #1314 and if you look back in the lounge where I posted some this morning they will now all have 1314.

Ron

Edit:: Maybe I have just never noticed this before but after looking at some of the other guy's posts I see some of them all have the number of their last post, so it is most likely the way the server counts them. Sorry to bother you with something I shouold have looked a little farther into.

Edit again; I have tried twice to delete this post and it just tells me I am trying to delete someoene else's post or am not authorized to delete it. Why can I delete some posts with no problems and others I can't delete at all?

Ron..

The results that you see are normal. Let me explain..
The interesting thing about the Forum software is that pages are 'dynamic', not static... meaning that the pages you view are 'composed' on the fly as you request them.

The Author column on the left of posts is assembled on the fly, when the page is served up to you.

The data is always current, even when you view old threads.
Therefore, your post count, your Avatar, your Member Status and description, and Cobra make are all displayed based on your current settings.

The same is true for your Sig line. If you look at a one year old post, it will reflect today's sig line, etc.

I seem to remember that the ability to delete posts was bestowed on Contributing Members, but I think the 'permissions' are not consistent in all forums... not on purpose, just by oversight.

If you encounter a post of yours that won't delete, just advise a moderator to get it zapped.

WHILE were on the subject when you guys did a major software
update a while back I lost 200 - 300 posts, just wondering where
they went??? And also what is the differance between a
clubcobra member
senior member
senior clubcobra member
I have these three variations is it number of posts or when they joined the forum?

thanks DEAN

Dean..
The post count disparity, I think, resulted from restoring an older member file during a forum software problem's repair.
Some older post count numbers went to that great bit-bucket in the sky... the actual posts were not lost, just the counter got changed for some members.... get crackin' and catch up!

The "Member" and "Senior Member" you see is an automatic default setting for the Custom User Text portion of your Profile.

I think the title changes to "Senior Member" at 200 posts, or close to that.

Also, at some point (maybe 100 or 200 posts), the ability for you to change the title to anything you like becomes available in your Profile settings... hence some of the witty titles you may see.
