new superformance (600 miles)
Hello:
I might have the oppournity to purchase a new Superformance with 600 miles on it.( basically almost new) Has a 428 and is dark blue.
We are at $49,000 and he says he has over or about $59,000 in it. It has never been registered and was used locally. It would come with top and everything that comes with a new superformance.
Would $49,000 be a good price or am I paying too much for a Superformance.
The dealer would sell me a new turn key minus for about $41,000 but then I have the expense for tranny and engine.
Please provide me with some opinions.
Thank you

If the motor was built correctly and the car is a later model SPF, $49K is fair. Best of Luck!

Thank you for your reply. The car is 4 months old and was purchased from a local Superformance dealer and the engine package was done by Euro motors, one of the top of the line engine installers or so I've been told. He does most of the work for the superformace dealer. The owner has decided that Cobra is not his thing or at least thats what his wife tells him. lol

If I were you I would grab this one quickly because there is no way you can get the car at this price from anybody else. I know. Good luck.

Buy it--if it is a '03 or '04 it is a deal sold my '01 a couple weeks ago for 47.5k
Of course if the engine/trans is sorted out

Sounds like a good deal to me. I wouldn't sell mine for $49k. If the engine install and build is high quality, you can't go wrong.

Careful
Be careful buddy, this car may not be able to be registered here in California. Especially, if it was not registered properly the first time around, DMV may have banished the car to Bogeyland, ergo you may not be able to register it in this state. See if it has the SB 100 exemption sticker. DO your homework!!! So this way you do not buy a 49K car that you can only LOOK AT!

Streetbeagle,
Before you purchase this car, I'd recommend closely inspecting the windshield for any flaws, cracks or gaps.

What point were changes made to be considered more desireable? I've also been looking at SPF's, as old as 99 though.

When dealing with an FE engine, you need to be very careful regarding the way it was built. Price-wise, this car seems in the ballpark but before you buy it, I would hire someone to check it out thoroughly.
I have a 428 FE with a dual quad set-up in my Superformance and its a blast. I had a 392 crate stroker in my first Superformance and enjoyed it also, but the original look, big block sound, low-end torque, and the uniqueness of the 428 makes it the king.

What car# is it??
Streetbeagle,
What car # is it?? This will tell you a lot about how long the car has been here in the states and how "new" it is. Some people can put 600 miles on in a day and some still don't have 600 miles on their cars after three or four years!
Good luck, because-on the surface- the price is definitely "right"!

About SPF number 1000 and higher are more "desirable" cars. I doubt even a good FE mechanic could tell much about the build of the motor good or bad short of tearing it down. It does sound like the motor comes out of a quality shop though.
BIG trouble if that SPF has been "black balled" by the State of Calif. SOME have been and CANNOT be registered EVER again in the state. Is this car one of those? If it is,,,,,,RUN away!
