Beautiful car..you boy's are to be congratulated!
I just read my AutoWeek, and they give you a nice vote of confidence, too. Too bad they id the car as a Shelby Daytona!

Tom:

If you have the Goodyear rep's ear, please beg and plead to have them make decent performance tires in the appropriate 15" size. Since someone from Goodyear saw your car and the reaction to it (especially Ford's reaction), you might have a good bit of influence. (What a great car to have in a Goodyear ad!!)

If you guys could pull that off and offer tires which, like your cars, look the part but exceed the original quality, everyone in the Cobra world would think that you were really cool and want to be your friend.

"He found something to scratch and is going to keep scratching until HE is happy, probably."

Actually HE finds it interesting that HE couldn't attract flies on this forum until HE hit a hot button.

HE finds "unobtainable" to be a bold statement, and one worthy of questioning.

HE appreciates Mr. Kirkham's response.

Any follow up comments to HE?

.I HATE THIS THREAD!! ITS NOT FAIR!! :

I was happy with my life , including my cobra, and now this - makes me fall in love again. I'm thinking, should I sell my house to get this thing? My wife will kill me -

But honestly, Congrats to the Kirkhams, you've created a beautiful piece of art - worth beeing displayed at the Gugenheim or a similiar place

The badges and steering wheel insert are exceptionally nice. Anyone that produces a quality, unique product should ALWAYS have their signature on it so uninformed admirers have an idea who produced it and where to start their search.

I didn't notice the badges or steering wheel inserts on Jamo's or Pat Buckley's cars. Why? If they are later productions, will all of the previous owners receive updated badges?

Dan,

Thank you very much for your kind words. Yes, we are working on making badges for all who want them. We just haven't figured out a way to take all of the hand labor out of them yet.

We billet them out of aluminum and we painted the red in the KK in with fingernail polish. Anyone know how REAL emblems are made so we don't have to put on 1000 coats of nail polish to make them look nice? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Fellow Car Nuts:

Many, many thanks for all the kind words. We are always trying to make the nicest cars possible. We are trying to make our niche in the industry as the highest quality manufacturer we can possibly become--price will take care of itself if we work hard at it. Sometimes I think we still have a long way to go. Always chasing that last burr...etc. Anyway, thanks again. I'm very happy Ford liked it.

David

Car is Great
Company is Great
Logo is Great
.....as long as you limit it to 2 K's
Other than that, you will have a trademark problem of the worst kind.

David Kirkham: Worked at a company that made emblems and insignias by the hundreds. (Owner owns an actual 427 Cobra!) We painted the whole emblem, say, 48 at a time, then wiped the emblem on a clean cloth; the paint stayed in the recessed areas, and it was a pretty good operation. This may or may not work for you, but it worked for us!

Send those puppies out to your local powder coater. Or buy a powder coater, tape 'em off, spray 'em with powder, and bake 'em up.
If you guys don't already have a powder coating set up at your shop, Eastwood sells on that isn't expensive.
The nail polish will fade. I used red nail polish on the Maltese Cross on my Firefighter tag(before GA made the crosses red), and it faded after a few months.

Pat,

I should have known you would have wanted to paint your own! Will send them right out for the Buckley patented R&D. How much will you charge for your secrets when you are finished?D

Maybe the powder coat idea will work. Just sand off what we don't want. We tried the "wipe" method and were not able to make it work. Just seems like we smeared the stuff everywhere...hmmm, now that isn't a pleasant thought...

Will call Larry--always willing to talk to anyone who knows more than me...maybe I will be talking to a lot of people to figure this one out.

Steve,

I told my brother Steve 3 K's would be a problem...

Thanks to all,

David

On my pedals I filled the recess with red enamel and then baked it in the oven. My wife wasn't totally in awe of the procedure but it worked well.

Pat,

What exactly is enamel and where do you get it? How did it turn out?

Enamel paint. I had to put it on in a few heavy coats and it took quite a while to dry but it worked ut well.

Want pictures?
