Lightbulb nitrous help

I want to put nitrous on my cobra. I am a victim of myself and the never ending pursuit of power. I have never used or set up a car on NOS does any have any suggestions, guidelines, and changes to top or bottom of engine? Does the nitrous require me to rejet my carb or change timing?
I would appreciate any help in tis matter.
My engine comes straight from ford motorsports 351w with 400Hp
Was enough now it is not. Fighting my own speed demons the best way I can.

Don't get greedy with nitrous - it'll bite you first, and your wallet second...
Start at the lowest HP setting available in the kit, and work up gradually.
Mount the nitrous solenoid at least 1 foot from your carb, and mount the fuel solenoid as close as possible. The further away the nitrous solenoid is, the softer the initial hit. If it comes on too aggressively, you'll likely end up facing the wrong way down the track.
Forged pistons are recommended.
Some form of timing control is adviseable. The more nitrous going into the motor, the less ignition timing you'll need.
Carb jetting is generally fine as is. The extra fuel required is supplied via the fuel solenoid.
What size fuel pump are you using? You may need a supplementary fuel system if you want to go for one of the higher HP nitrous systems.
And lastly, if you ever experience problems missing gears when you shift, think twice about nitrous. Missed gears and free revving with nitrous often equal a holed piston or worse.

Bang for the buck though, it's unbeatable !

Provided your engine can handle the added fun, just get a kit!.

Forged pistons, balanced assembly with premium fastners is a must!

Four bolt mains with a high pressure oil pump would be highly recomended.

I think it is over kill. Most cobras weigh in between 2000 and 2400 pounds and a one HP per cubic inch engine is more than enough for the street.

Just my $0.02

Default However

There are people who live in areas where they can operate 750 HP ( OK... maybe a bit more ) and open a large can of whoop-a$$.

Hey, you only live once, have fun!!

Nitrous is good. I had it on my Blue Cobra, (Never got a chance to use it). But it's simple easy to install and there are countless safety/protective products to avoid the old scares of blowing up your motor using nitrous. Forged pistons, sure if you want to add more than 100hp with nitrous. If you are using less any piston will do. You do need a bottle heater, a must, and a purge valve. So add that on to the price of your kit. People talk about it as cheap horsepower, which it is, but you end up spending more than you think. I've got nearly $1,200 in my nitrous setup. And it's pretty basic. I'll let you know how it works after it gets installed in the new Cobra this winter. As someone above stated, you need to ensure your fuel pump has the capacity to support the hp you plan on adding. Besides that, everything can remain stock, as is. I also encourage a window switch instead of using the micro throttle switch that comes with most kits. This gives more control of the addition and prevents nitrous addition at too low or too high of rpms. My brother's '96 Vette is nitrous induced and making around 500RWHP and has the stock pistons and bottom end. No problem. Pulls like a freight train!

Buy a used supercharger set-up, takes a day to install, 8 lbs of boost should give you about 100 more hp & 120 torque. $1500 to $2000. Jay
