Hi, I'm a new member. I don't have a Cobra of my own (hopefully someday I will) but my dad does. In fact he is a member on this website too. Also, I don't know a lot about cars but I'm learning and am very eager to understand everything. I love when my dad will tell me about how the engine works and how each part connects to another part and so on and so on. Someday, I hope I can do just as much as him on his Cobra and be right next to him while he is working on it. He always tells me it take years and years of being an apprentice to understand so much, well Dad, I'm here to tell you I'm willing to listen if your willing to teach. I want to learn everything there is to know about a Cobra and an engine. So, I'm ready when you are.

Ash,

You have come to the right place. Cobras are the coolest cars on the planet. NOTHING else I know of can get you out of bed at 5:00 am on a Sunday morning just to go for a drive.

It is hard just to give you a shotgun blast of information. Any particular quesitons? I'd be happy to answer what I can, though many on this site much more qualified than I am to answer most questions.

Have a great day and Happy Motoring!

David

Welcome to CC Ash. Being the father of 3 daughters I am an advocate that woman can do anything with cars that men can. My youngest daughter, who is now 16, helped me 2 years ago when I built my Cobra. She now has a 99 Miata that she keeps modifying whenever she saves up more money. So far she on her Miata, she has put in roll bar, rear spoiler, new rims and tires, chrome gas door lid, and chrome wire loomed the engine compartment. I just recently added an adjustable seat track for my Cobra. She had to slouch way down in the seat to use the clutch pedal every time she had to change gears. So far I’ve only let her drive my Cobra with me in the passenger seat. Maybe someday I’ll let her drive it by herself but I’m not ready for that yet. This link is a picture of my 2 years age daughter helping me put my Cobra together http://pages.sbcglobal.net/tdockstett/JaTwrk.jpg
Good luck Ash!

Ashley;

You sure have an "over the top" way of communicating. Your post surprised me. You know where to find me on the weekends. So, put your hair up inside your ball cap, put on your Levis and let's learn some more. I know you will be 16 on your next birthday, however that doesn't mean setting the pedal box back a foot and installing power steering. Keep up the 3.0 GPA and I will put you in the Mustang.

Your Pop

Ashley, it's great to see a young lady posting in here with a real Cobra interest. We don't have enough females in here. Stick with your Dad and maybe you will learn something. However, if you want other opinions about anything, there are plenty of willing helpers around here.

Ash,

You made a great first post and I loved the way you got your Pop's attention. Welcome to the club and never be afraid to ask questions. Just remember, as long as I am in the club you can't possubly be the person that knows the least in the club. We need more girls and women to get interested in these cars.

Ron

Ash,

Pat is a former professional race driver and is building an extraordinary cobra right now. He is a very good resource.

Judging by the progress photos, I have the feeling that your car is in perfect condition, regardless of it's level of completion. Yours is probably the most impressive looking "work in progress" that I think I've ever seen!!!

Ash and Blues, take him up on his offer. You won't regret it. The car will take your breathe away. You might experience other, unrelated breathing difficulties around him, but that's another story...

Hi Ash and Bluesman

Good to see you are interested.

I was recently at the 'Run N Gun' and met some wonderful people there.

When you get a moment come over to the Club Forum and look at the Australian site.

The President of the Victorian Club Jason and his wife Judy really have fun in their Cobra. See there photos!!

I wouldn't say this in front of Jason but I think Judy is a better drive - Mrs. Reptyl

I also have three daughters and my two older daughters have driven the Cobra with me. Hopefully they will keep their interest and be like my wife - Anne enjoys cars and together we have built four Hot Rods and now two Cobras. Doing something together is great. She is currently advising me on car colour.

My car is in white Gel coat as I was keen to get it on the road.

Hopefully the photos will be on soon.

Just keep enjoying the Cobra. As my daughters say

"where there are cars there are some really keen guys!!"

Take care.

Cheers

Bernie

Ash,

there are quite a few books out about cobras and the guy who more or less started it all. The biiks are excellent for the history and how the Cobra cqame to be. As far as technical knowledge, just ask away. Somebody will know the answer or at least point you in the right direction to get the answers you need

Good Luck,
Steve

I Think my daughter is overwhelmed guys. I am sure she didn't anticipate such a strong supportive response from so many Cobra owners. I absolutely love her helping me work on the car.
I only see her on the weekends, so I'll give her a call and tell her to read these posts and not to be intimidated. I can tell you from twelve years of experience as an owner that no other car has ever had the "stop dead in your tracks, and jaw drop" appeal as an AC Cobra.
I have many funny stories of admirers. I always got a kick out of the people that practically force me at gun point to take them for a ride and then burn the hell out of their inside right calf on the side pipe. Thank you for being supportive of my little apprentice.
