As a post script to all of this, I have been in contact with Rick Kopec, Executive Director of SAAC. Among other things, SAAC collects, analyzes, verifies, and publishes all data that appears in the Shelby Registry. It is their domain.

Rick indicated that there has been no decision, at his point, regarding the inclusion of the CAV/SAI Cobra in the Registry. This is not to imply that it will not appear. SAAC has yet to address the issue.

According to Rick, each Series will be judged "on a case-by-case basis" with regard to acceptance in the Registry. Just wanted to clarify that point.

Evan: I dont want to beat a dead horse but, I dont think anyone would argue that the replicas made the Cobra into a legend. Can you find one instance of this in a prior post?

Replicas keep people interested and it allows fans of the original to buy and drive a vehicle the looks, feels, and sounds just like the original. At its heart, the Cobra is practically a kit. I think thats what make all these replicas so popular. Is there any other kitcar as popular as a Cobra?

BlueRooster,

I to have heard it stated many times in many posts in different ways:
"The Cobra would NOT be a legend if it wasn't for the replica manufacturers".

I rarely respond to such a statement, it's so ridiculous it's not worth commenting on!

Ernie

The fact is that the Cobra WAS/IS a legend and THAT is WHY there are replicas!
