I had two more notifications of threads that I was in from the Gasholes this morning so I think that most likely takes AOL out of the equation. I use the same screen name and settings there that I do here.

KK,
Not me. I don't use any of those free programs as I have no faith in them. I just received two more notifications from the Gasholes site about answers to posts that I have posted on there so that would make me think it has something to do with this site alone. What version of AOL are you using and are you using the broad band or a high speed connection? I went to a friends computer and made a new screen name and logged in under it and joined for a couple of posts as he is on a different ISP and there were no notifications that came to his either.

Ron,
I am using an old version of AOL, 7.0 I think, Some of the guys here were using the google stopper and were saying it was working, I was getting desperate. It did'nt work for me at any rate....about a month later they all just stopped........from your tests, I would agree itsounds like this site.

That free Google Bar tool is a VERY cool thing to have.
One of the FEW "free" things I have ever found worth checking out!

KK - A word of warning about the Google toolbar: If you have installed it with the advanced options, every request you make for any web page is routed through Google's servers - even if you later turn the adv options off.
If you aren't concerned about privacy, that's ok, but the further issue is that there are occasional "hiccups" with Google that don't allow you to access the site you requested, even tho that site might be up and running fine. It will appear that the site is down, or simply can't be reached.
FWIW, I never install freebie 3rd party toolbars or browser helpers. There are several bad apples out there, such as Lycos Sidesearch, that not only spy on you (in order to "improve" your browsing experience ), but install ad-ware on your system. Ever get a pop-up when you aren't even browsing? Additionally, many of them DON'T uninstall themselves with their "uninstallers" or when you try to use "Add/Remove Programs".
There are a couple of trustworthy free tools to help you keep your system clean. I use AdAware, from www.lavasoftusa.com. The free version does a fine job. You might be amazed how much ad-ware, spy-ware, and mal-ware gets on your system, and you never knew!

KK,
The 9.0 version of AOL does a pretty good job of stoppping popups. I never get any and you can select sites that you may want to get them on. Since I now know of a 7.0, 8.0, and the 9.0 versions of AOL and they are all not getting any notifications I really don't think it is AOL now. I just got back on from looking at a post I was in on the Gasholes site which I received a notification of about 5 minutes ago and if their site works ok, on notifications, then it must point more to this site. I have had 4 notifications from their site in the last day and I don't post much over there. By the way, the notification was a post about Turk's Birthday. Also Rick Parker just posted and he isn't on AOL and he isn't getting the notifications or the e-mail that I sent through the link at the bottom of his post.

Brent,
No, I never received a thing from you. In fact I haven't received anything from the board now for well over a week. It seems that even the e-mail function is starting to get flaky. As for the notifications I am sure you have already read all that I did and that I am getting them from the Gasholes ok. I tried e-mailing 3 other people through the board and none of them received it.

Ok, it appears that some mail going to MSN and Hotmail are timing out (MSN/Hotmail are busy and turning the mail away), which the server puts back in the que to try again in 30 minutes, then an hour, then every two hours and kills it after 2 days if it can't be delivered.
With regards to the aol stuff, I am still digging, but there is an error returned, although I do not yet know what it means.

Brent,
I read somewhere that some ISPs do reverse DNS lookups when receiving mail, and it will get hosed if your PTR records are hosed or missing. (I'm not a DNS expert, so I can't confirm or refute that logic) Have you talked to your ISP?

Acutally, in the previous list in the log file, I'm not even seeing an error...It looks like the connection was made, the data sent and recieved, and then the connection closed.
You're sure that AOL doesn't have some sort of spam filter that is just killing mail from my server (before it even gets to your mail box)?

Brent... I was just posting that the log file dialog looks normal, as you said.
Are the guys with AOL that are having problems running AOL 9.0?

I'm running AOL 9, which HAS had some bugs related to crashing my computer, but no mail problems.
Could be the very aggressive "spam" filtering AOL is now using?

RawCobra, that statement is beyond my current understanding, but I do have a question....Would the log file indicate a successful transaction as Ron and I are asserting that has occurred?
